The accused, D4vd, has maintained that he didn't know the victim, but detectives have shown some contrary evidence suggesting that he bought tickets for himself and the 14-year-old to Texas and London, UK.
However, that was just a fraction of the "disturbing" evidence presented at the hearing Tuesday, July 21, 2026 (ET). The detectives also presented some pictures of Celeste's dismembered body, which left her family and everyone present in shock.
D4vd bought tickets for himself and Celeste Rivas Hernandez, claims detective
Detectives and homicide investigators appeared before the judge inside the courtroom and shared a series of pictures of Celeste Rivas Hernandez's body. For the unversed, her remains were found by LAPD officers on September 8, 2025, several months after her murder, which allegedly happened on April 23, 2025. Singer, D4vd, real name David Burke, was arrested in the case as the prime suspect and now faces the court.
During the hearing on Tuesday, July 21 2026 (ET), LAPD detectives testified, making some shocking revelations. They revealed that D4vd had allegedly bought plane tickets for himself and Celeste Rivas Hernandez to Texas and London. A News Nation journalist reported that LAPD found the tickets while executing a search at his residence, and the tickets were found unopened in his Amazon box.
The detectives revealed that the plane tickets were purchased by D4vd under the alias of Victoria Mendez. Inside the box was a mini crematorium, inside which anything can be burned to ashes. This evidence, especially the tickets, has become critical in establishing the link between Celeste Rivas Hernandez and D4vd.

D4vd showed no emotion during the proceedings on July 21, 2026 (ET), as he stared at gruesome photos of the decomposed remains of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez found in the front trunk of his Tesla last year in 2025. The pictures were shared by the detectives on a large screen in a Los Angeles courtroom during the singer's preliminary hearing in his murder case.
The pictures showed Celeste Rivas Hernandez's limbless torso in one black plastic bag and her dismembered arms and legs in another. A picture also showed her knee with flecks of blue plastic. According to the prosecutors, it is allegedly from the inflatable pool they claim the singer used while dismembering Celeste's body. A close-up of her left hand showed that her ring and pinky fingers had been cut off.
Another photo showed a tattoo of the word "Shhh…" on her right index finger. The gruesome pictures left Celeste Rivas Hernandez's mother, Mercedes Martinez, in chills as she silently bowed her head and averted her eyes as she sat in the front row of the gallery. The late teen's father, Jesus Rivas, looked at the screen with a mournful expression and repeatedly checked on his wife.
For the unversed, Tuesday, July 21, 2026's hearing was the first in a multi-day hearing. During these proceedings, prosecutors will lay out the evidence they’ve accumulated against David Burke, and a judge will decide whether there is enough probable cause to send the case to trial. The musicians' attorneys will also get the chance to defend their client, question witnesses, and potentially poke holes in the state's case.
