Bhumi has made a huge name for herself in the world of films. She is one of the most-loved actresses of our times, all thanks to her amazing acting skills and the courage to chose different roles. She started off her filmy journey with the character of 'Sandhya' in Dum Laga Ke Haisha. But not many people know that the gorgeous actress had gone through worse times at the age of eighteen when she had lost her father due to cancer.

Recently, in an interview with Pinkvilla, Bhumi opened up on the huge loss and shared, "We were quite young. I was 18, Samiksha was probably 15 when we lost our dad due to cancer. We saw him through prolonged sickness and really suffer a lot. Obviously, losing a parent is never easy and I had a wonderful father. He was just a father. We miss him every day but my mom is made of something else, she really got us together. I think just us as a family, we went into warrior mode post that."

She further added, "I start working, 10 times harder than I would. We both just grew up and realised that s*** is getting real, and we need to get our act together. The two years were a mess but we gathered ourselves really fast. Today when we look back, we wonder how we survived those days, how we got through it, but it happened." (Also Read: Karan Johar's Kids, Yash And Roohi Johar Are Diet-Policing Him, Barred Him From Eating A Burger)

Bhumi shares a beautiful relationship with her mother and credits her for her success. In an interview with the Bombay Times, Bhumi had talked about her mother's role in her life and had shared, "I am proud of my mother and my naani. My mother was an integral part of my prep for Saand Ki Aankh. She was with me throughout the journey of this film. She worked so hard on me -- she helped me get the body language and the twang right. I don’t speak Haryanvi but she is a tenth Haryanvi who is very proud of her roots. So, she also polished my Hindi-laced Haryanvi. This is the first time she’s worked so hard on me. The last time she did something like this was when I was passing out of school. She was with me through the film; I didn’t let her go home from the set. I needed her support because she’s the only one who could understand and absorb what I was saying. She also knew about the daadis and about the community. When you’re working on a difficult film like this, your family is the only thing that can see you through." (Don't Miss: South Star, Ram Charan Takes The 'Real Man' Challenge, Mops The Floor And Nominates Ranveer Singh)
