In India, nothing goes more viral as a love song. One of the most loved and sung Bollywood songs is Sun Raha Hai Na Tu from Aashiqui 2, and guess what! The melodious voice behind the male lyrics is getting married soon in real life. According to a report in Mumbai Mirror, playback singer, Ankit Tiwari, who gave voice to this soulful song, is soon going to be husband on February 23, 2018.
Last October, Ankit’s grandmom was travelling on a train, Kanpur to Delhi. Little did she knew that this 6-hour-long journey would seal the fate of her grandson’s life. In her compartment, she happened to meet a girl named, Pallavi Shukla. They broke the ice, started talking and hit off instantly. Granny knew she had found the perfect match for her singer-composer grandson, who doesn’t have time for love due to his work commitments (in his mum’s words).
It’s been three months now since that journey, and the Tiwaris and Shuklas are joyfully shopping for Ankit and Pallavi’s wedding. The couple will get engaged on February 20 and will have a big fat North Indian wedding on February 23 in Kanpur. This will be followed by a grand reception on February 26.
Speaking to the Mumbai Mirror, Ankur, Ankit’s older brother, reveals, “Usually weddings in our family last 10-12 days, but Ankit doesn’t have the time. His shows are booked months in advance and we worked on his dates.” Ankit, the groom-to-be, describes his first meeting, “Once dadi announced that Pallavi would be the family’s daughter-in-law, everyone agreed. I’m happy that the family is happy and a little nervous too. She is a very sweet and simple girl. Ankit further remarks, “I’ve introduced her and her family to my work and life in Mumbai where she will live after marriage.” Pallavi is a mechanical engineer and has spent her last 10 years in Bangalore.
Speaking to the Times of India, Ankit shares his feelings and says, “It's still not sunk in. I actually don't know how I am feeling. Khush bhi hoon, nervous bhi.” Talking about arranged marriage, he adds, “She's a very sweet girl and already gets along very well with everyone at home, which is what matters most, as ours is a very close-knit family. My parents had never stopped me from having a love marriage, but my experience with love has been rather bad. So I am happy with the choice my parents have made for me. After all, every parent wants the best for their child. It's going to be the start of a new phase in my life and I want it to be a really good one!”
It must be noted here that Ankit was arrested in 2014 for allegedly raping a woman. He was acquitted last year. Does Pallavi know about this? Ankit comments, “We met before things were finalized and I discussed everything with her. She is a very well educated girl and understands things. Her parents were also made aware of everything right from the start. Ab zamaana bahut aage badh chuka hai. Aaj bhi log discussion kar sakte hain, I can't stop them. What's important is ki jiske saath mein judne wala hoon, nothing is hidden from her and her family. I didn't need to justify myself to her. She's a very genuine person and we sorted out things before we said yes.”
And finally, speaking about the wedding preparations, the 27-year-old singer opens up, “Gharwale sab taiyyariyan kar rahe hain. I am too busy to do anything. The reports suggest that the couple will dance to Ankit’s hit songs- Sun Raha Hai Na Tu, Galliyan and O Yara. Pallavi belongs to a conservative family, hence, the family has refused to share any of Pallavi’s pics until the pheras are done. Quite clearly, the engagement and wedding ceremony will be a close-knit affair.
