Anant Ambani, the youngest son of Mukesh Ambani and Nita Ambani, created waves back in 2016 as he reduced his weight by 108 kgs in just 18 months. Anant, who managed to go 100 kgs from 208 kgs, inspired millions of people with his massive weight loss journey. Well, not just this, he also motivated people who were struggling with obesity and extreme weight gain. Moreover, many celebrities praised Anant immensely for his dedication and sheer determination.
Anant Ambani's drastic physical transformation was jaw-dropping, and everyone was amazed by it. He lost 108 kilos under the guidance of celebrity trainer, Vinod Channa, and impressed everyone with his lean body. Fast forward to today, Anant Ambani has again become the talk of the town as people are shocked to see that he has gained his weight back. Meanwhile, his fans are wondering how the businessman became overweight once again and what went wrong in the last seven years.
In a 2017 interview, Anant Ambani’s mother and chairperson of Reliance Foundation, Nita Ambani opened up about his weight gain problem and revealed that Anant had severe asthma and was given steroids to cure it. However, his treatment caused him to gain weight and made him obese. She revealed:
"Anant was highly asthmatic so we had to put him on a lot of steroids. He suffers from obesity. Hence, the treatment for asthma resulted in a lot of weight gain."
In an interview with Times Now Digital, Manipal Hospital's Consultant Pulmonology, Dr Piyush Goel, opened up about the link between obesity and asthma steroids and shared how oral usage of steroids can lead to weight gain. Now, since Anant was highly asthmatic and was on steroids for a long period of time, there might be a chance that he regained weight in the last seven years due to medication. The doctor was quoted as saying:
“The judicious use of oral steroids can lead to obesity as a side effect. In asthma, we used to give inhaled steroids, and that is also in a very low dose which is going directly into the lungs where the problem of asthma lies. It is not going directly into the bloodstream so the chances of getting side effects because of inhaled steroids are very negligible and if I can say like that obesity can happen with oral steroids only when we give it in a very high doses and for a longer time.”
While Anant Ambani left us stunned by his drastic transformation, everyone was curious to know how he managed to achieve it. As per the reports, Mukesh Ambani's son used to work out for 5-6 hours to lose weight every day, which included brisk walking for 21 km. Apart from this, Anant also used to do yoga, weight reduction training, functional training and cardio.
Moreover, Anant followed a strict diet which included high protein and low-fat, low-carb food for weight loss. In this process, he ensured a calorie intake of 1200 to 1400 calories per day. Talking about what Anant ate in a day to shed those extra kilos, he included green vegetables, pulses, sprouts, and dairy products in his diet, while avoiding junk food completely.
