After a lavish wedding ceremony of Akash Ambani and Shloka Mehta on March 9, 2019, attended by celebrities and international personalities, the Ambanis and Mehtas are hosting a grand wedding reception for the newly-wedded couple. B-town celebs including Juhi Chawla, Boney Kapoor, Anu Malik, Sanjay Khan, Rajinikanth, Abhishek Bachchan-Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Shilpa Shetty Kundra-Raj Kundra, Farah Khan, Sonali Bendre-Goldie Behl amongst others have arrived at the venue. Akash Ambani and Shloka Mehta walked hand-in-hand to pose for the shutterbugs and were all smiles for the cameras. While Akash looked dapper in a black and white kurta which he teamed up with a brown coloured long jacket and black shoes, his gorgeous wife Shloka looked mesmerising in a champagne coloured lehenga. The sweetest moment from their ‘media greeting’ was when paparazzi congratulated the newly-weds and thanking them, Akash introduced Shloka to media as, “Thank you. Meri biwi se milo”, to which everyone shared a laugh.
Two days prior to the wedding, the Ambanis hosted mala and mehendi ceremony for the bride and groom. To commence the pre-wedding festivities in Mumbai, the families organised an Anna Seva ceremony, wherein they reportedly served dinner to over 2,000 children across orphanages and old age homes in Mumbai and will continue to do so until March 13, 2019. While the groom-to-be, Akash opted for an emerald-green kurta and jacket, his gorgeous bride-to-be, Shloka stood out in a beautifully embroidered rani-pink kurta, which she paired with an orange dupatta and matching flared trousers.
One of the sweetest moment from the Anna Seva was when Akash Ambani and Shloka Mehta along with their parents, Mukesh Ambani-Nita Ambani and Russel Mehta-Mona Mehta, posed for the paparazzi. After a family picture, when the shutterbugs asked the dulha-dulhan to pose for the cameras, the groom-to-be playfully joked with the media to click good photos of his wife-to-be. Akash said, “Shloka ka photo ache se nikalna. Smile karte hue, vo nervous ho jaati hai.”
In an interaction with Vogue, the newly-married Isha Ambani Piramal revealed that her twin brother, Akash Ambani willingly gave up his wedding dates for his darling sister. Isha had said, "Akash has the largest heart ever. He changed his wedding dates for me. He got engaged to Shloka before Anand and me, but he was like, “I’ll get married afterwards, you take my wedding dates.” He’s like one of the most—I don’t think there’s a word for it in English—“dayalu” humans in this world. He’s empathetic, gracious and gentle, just like Shloka."
Talking about her sister-in-law, Shloka, Isha had stated, “In fact, Shloka’s sister, Diya [Mehta Jatia] and I were in the same class in Sunflower and then in JB [Petit]. We have been best friends for over 25 years. Then when I moved to Ambani, I skipped a grade and went to Shloka’s class. So I’ve been like a third sister to them. In a throwback interview, Shloka Mehta talked about her now-husband, Akash Ambani and had shared, “Despite years and busy schedules, we have always found ways to stay connected. Akash is incredibly grounded, and we share a bond based on meaning and memories. We don't just get along - we also support each other's hopes and aspirations and are determined to build a sense of purpose in our lives together. We are lucky to have a love that began with being best friends and luckier still to have such supportive families.”
Akash Ambani too, had beautiful words for his then-to-be-wife, Shloka Mehta. He had stated, “I am truly happy that our friendship has blossomed into love and Shloka and I are getting married, she is a truly special and extremely kind-hearted person”. In a throwback interview with a leading media portal, Nita Ambani talked about her son, Akash Ambani’s engagement with Shloka Mehta.
