India’s richest man, Mukesh Ambani’s son, Akash Ambani tied the knot with Shloka Mehta, daughter of diamantaire, Russell Mehta on March 9, 2019. It was a star-studded affair that we still haven’t gotten over. The newly-married couple looked gorgeous in their traditional ensembles. The video which went viral on the internet is from Shloka’s mehendi ceremony, wherein we can see the bride dancing her heart out on a Bollywood song, 'dheeme-dheeme' from film, Zubeidaa (2001). She looked gorgeous while showing off her moves. Take a look at the video below:
Akash and Shloka’s, pre-wedding celebrations was a 3-day grand affair that started in February amid the Swiss Alps. It was later followed by an interesting Harry Potter themed party in Mumbai. However, the Ambanis kick-started the wedding week with an auspicious week-long Anna Seva programme on March 6, 2019, in all the orphanages and old age homes in the city. This initiative began at the Jio Gardens, where the family served dinner with choice delicacies to nearly 2,000 children. The Anna Seva will be followed by a continuation of the supply of groceries to all the orphanages and old age homes in the city for a year. Before the Anna Seva, Nita Ambani inaugurated the Dhirubhai Ambani Square at Jio World Centre in Bandra and was accompanied by Mukesh Ambani, their youngest son, Anant Ambani and his rumoured girlfriend, Radhika Merchant. During the event, Nita ji talked about the thought behind this new initiative, and had said, “The Dhirubhai Ambani Square and the Jio World Centre fulfill the vision of a great son of India, who believed that India has the potential to achieve global excellence in every area of nation-building.”
She had further added, “In the coming days, it will be a great treat to the eyes of all Mumbaikars who will visit this modern and futuristic square, part of the world-class, multi-purpose Jio World Centre which will be the largest and one of the best global convention centers in our country. When the Jio World Centre opens towards the end of this year, it will be a place where people will get together, to appreciate art, to exchange ideas, to celebrate culture, and to soak in the heritage and vibrancy of our great city!”
For those who don’t know, Akash and Shloka, are childhood sweethearts, who have known each other since kindergarten and studied in the same school, Dhirubhai Ambani International School. The couple decided to walk the aisle in March last year. And they celebrated their new beginnings with their close family and friends in a private ceremony in Goa. Shloka is a daughter of Russell and Mona Mehta. The young heiress completed her undergraduate studies at Princeton University, and went on to do her masters at the London School of Economics, before coming back to India in 2014.
