After the grand star-studded pre-wedding festivities in Switzerland, Akash Ambani and Shloka Mehta are now pronounced as husband and wife. It’s finally March 9, 2019, and out social media timelines are filled with the photos and videos of the childhood sweethearts-turned-lifetime partners, Akash and Shloka. Akash had proposed to his childhood love, Shloka on the last day of their school, and then they got engaged in 2018. Akash and Shloka were supposed to get married in 2018 itself, but ‘dayalu’ Akash shifted his wedding dates for his twin sister, Isha Ambani’s wedding. While we share the details of the same later, we finally have the first glimpse of Akash Ambani and Shloka Mehta from the puja performing rituals. While the mother of the groom, Nita Ambani takes balaiyan of the bride and groom, Isha playfully teases her brother Akash. Here are the pictures of Akash and Shloka performing their wedding rituals:
This is not the first time we have seen the adorable banter between this sibling duo, Akash Ambani and Isha Ambani. At Akash Ambani and Shloka Mehta’s engagement bash one video that grabbed the attention was of Akash’s twin sister, Isha Ambani welcoming her bhai and bhabhi. In the video, we can see Isha performing the welcome rituals with a ceremonial Gujarati song playing in the background. The bond between Akash and Isha can be seen as they tease each other and the later playfully sprayed holy water on her brother; Isha and Shloka’s bond was seen when the latter paid respects to her soon-to-be sister-in-law. Nita Ambani guided her daughter Isha as she performed the welcoming ritual for her bhai and bhabhi. And it was Isha Ambani’s heartfelt welcome speech for her bhai-bhabhi, Akash Ambani and Shloka Mehta, that touched everyone’s heart. Welcoming her into the family, Isha said, "Today is all about 'hearts'. The theme is 'hearts', Shloka is a 'heart', Akash is a 'heart'; it's about the greeting of hearts, the meeting of hearts, and the celebration of hearts. And Anant and I are all hearts for Shloka and Akash. I don't think our hearts could burst anymore with love and affection than it is today. The happy sister, Isha Ambani could not control her emotions on getting a sister-like bhabhi, and she went on to say, "Welcome to the family. But the truth is that Shloka has been a part of our family since as far as I can remember. Diya (Shloka's sister) and I were in school together, and Diya is the first best friend I ever had. And, by relation, Shloka has also been my best friend since...I don't know, I can't even remember a time in my life when I didn't know Shloka. So in many ways, this is the officialising the fact that we were sisters; born to different mothers. And I am just so happy that I finally get to call her my real sister. Coming back to why Akash Ambani and Shloka Mehta didn’t get married in 2018, Isha Ambani Piramal shared the reason in an interview with Vogue. Revealing that her twin brother, Akash willingly gave up his wedding dates for his darling sister, Isha had said, "Akash has the largest heart ever. He changed his wedding dates for me. He got engaged to Shloka before Anand and me, but he was like, “I’ll get married afterwards, you take my wedding dates.” He’s like one of the most—I don’t think there’s a word for it in English—“dayalu” humans in this world. He’s empathetic, gracious and gentle, just like Shloka.”
Talking about the camaraderie she shares with her soon-to-be sister-in-law, Shloka Mehta, Isha Ambani Piramal had stated, “In fact, Shloka’s sister, Diya [Mehta Jatia] and I were in the same class in Sunflower and then in JB [Petit]. We have been best friends for over 25 years. Then when I moved to Ambani, I skipped a grade and went to Shloka’s class. So I’ve been like a third sister to them. I was thrilled with the engagement news.
