The unexceptional jodi of serious Ajay and chirpy Kajol had first met on the sets of the movie, Hulchul and on the sets of their second movie together which was Gundaraj, the duo had gotten close to each other. In a recent interview with SpotboyE, Ajay and Kajol opened up on the reasons why they have said ‘no’ to many films together. During the interview, Ajay also shared the reason why he felt Kajol was the perfect choice to play his on-screen wife in the movie. Talking about why they said ‘no’ to many films, the duo stated that they have been offered many films together, but they have always waited for something worthwhile.
Ajay, during the interview, talked about why he felt Kajol was the perfect pick to play his on-screen wife. He revealed that Kajol’s role is not very long but it's a very important one because the sacrifices are not done by the heroes alone, their wives also go through so much pain. So, Ajay thought that nobody else could pull it off and Kajol was the apt choice for the role. In an interview with the Mid-Day, Kajol had also revealed how Ajay had asked her to play the role of his on-screen wife in the movie, Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior. Kajol had recalled how she used to joke initially that Ajay wants to cast her in Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior so that he wouldn’t have to pay her fees. Kajol had shared, "A week [after he read the script], he told me, 'I want you to play Savitribai Malusare. If you say yes, I will develop it [the role] further. If you are not doing it, I will leave it at that'. Initially, I joked that he wanted me to be part of the film so that he didn't have to pay my fees." A round of narration later, Kajol found herself taken by the strong-headed character.
During the same interview, Kajol had also spoken about why it took them 11 years to reunite on the silver screen. Kajol had revealed, “We have completely different points of view. It is rare for both of us to like something. We can't do a regular love story where our characters are shown to be meeting each other for the first time. Our off-screen relationship is deeply seeped into the audience's minds, so they will not believe it. From marriage dramas to dancing around trees, we have explored everything on screen."
Ajay Devgn is considered very shy and on the other hand, his wife, Kajol is like a live wire, who can burst into vivacious laughter within seconds and can become the life of any party! In an interview with the Filmfare, Ajay had revealed that one thing which irritates him about Kajol and when asked whether he would like to change anything about her, the adorable hubby replied, “She talks too much on the set. Whenever you tell her to concentrate, she’d probably be doing something else. I do keep complaining about her talking too much but when she’s quiet I keep asking her what’s wrong.
