With the arrival of the festive season, people have geared up to prepare for the grand celebration. And since October 24, 2021, marked the prosperous occasion of Karwa Chauth, we could see media platforms flooded with newlyweds and married women decked up in their best outfits as they performed the Karwa Chauth puja. However, we were glued to our social media feed to get a glimpse of the grand celebration of the Bachchan family.
As Abhishek Bachchan is busy in Delhi shooting for the next season of the web series, Breathe: Into the shadows, it looked like this year, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan would celebrate Karwa Chauth virtually. For the unversed, the power couple, Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan had got married on April 20, 2007, and have been inseparable ever since. They had embraced parenthood with the arrival of their daughter, Aaradhya Bachchan, who was born in 2011.
However, on the occasion of Karwa Chauth, Abhishek Bachchan made sure to reach home unannounced to celebrate the special festival of love with his wife, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. The actor was caught up in Delhi for the shoot for his upcoming web series but returned home to be with family at the festive event. Sharing the details about his son, Abhishek Bachchan's surprise visit, the doting father, Amitabh Bachchan on his daily blog shared:
“The evening was given a surprise by the Son, Abhishek, who was shooting in Delhi for ‘Breathe’, but without warning suddenly landed up at home .. and a roar of surprise and wonder in the family, who were just not expecting this. So the family was complete at the festive time .. and the dining table banter was filled with laughter and delightful special food.”
On October 24, 2021, Amitabh Bachchan took to his social media handle and wished his fans a happy Karwa Chauth. The actor shared a beautiful picture with his wife, Jaya Bachchan on the occasion. The photo is a still from the film Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, in which we can see Amitabh Bachchan hugging his wife as the latter held a pooja ki thali in her hands. Sharing the picture, Amitabh Bachchan wrote, “T 4073 - Many Many Wishes on Karva Chauth. good luck all.” The couple had celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary this year.
Though the Karwa Chauth ritual is observed by married women for their husbands, Abhishek Bachchan also keeps a fast for his wife, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, every year. In an interview with Koimoi, Abhishek had said that Karwa Chauth was a working day for him and his wife, Aishwarya, and they had a nice and quiet celebration at night. Sharing the details, he had said:
“We were both busy working the whole day and then in the evening, the ladies do their pooja. In the night they wait for the chaand and do the pooja and break the fast. It was just that – a nice quiet family affair.”
Inayat Verma, Abhishek’s co-star in Ludo, had also shared an interesting memory from the shoot for the film. She had shared:
“Abhishek bhaiya ne mujhe bataya tha ki unhone fast rakha tha toh woh sargi karna bhul gaye the subah uthke. Toh unhone kuch bhi nahi khaya tha.”
In an old interview with Vogue magazine, when Abhishek was asked to share the secret behind their happy marriage. The doting husband had revealed that even if they have arguments every day, they have a healthy relationship. He also told that it was him and not Aishwarya, who makes up after a fight. Talking about the same, he had shared:
“We fight every day. But they’re more like disagreements, not fights. They’re not serious, they’re healthy. It’d be really boring otherwise. Women don’t make up! But we have a rule—we don’t sleep on a fight. And in defence of all men, I want to tell you, half the time the reason we give in and say sorry is because we’re just so sleepy and want to go to bed! Besides, women are the superior race, and they’re always right. The sooner men accept that, the better. It doesn’t matter what you say, even if you have concrete proof, in their world, it’s futile, it makes no sense.”
Abhishek Bachchan will next be seen in Tushar Jalota's direction, Dasvi.
