Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan have time and again proved that they are made for each other and are truly, madly and deeply in love. From being lost in each other’s eyes, Abhishek giving a peck on Aishwarya’s cheeks to hugging each other on national television, Abhishek and Aishwarya’s PDA is a proof that real life love still exists in Bollywood. At India Today Conclave, Abhishek talked about his comparison to superstar parents, Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan, on being at the receiving end of the negativity and trolls, Aishwarya’s professionalism and said that her dedication to her work is unparalleled. On the show, it was mentioned that Aishwarya has never left their daughter, Aaradhya Bachchan alone, even for a day. When asked how Aishwarya works it out, Abhishek replied, “She is superwoman. She is unbelievably dedicated to all that she does.”
The Manmarziyaan actor added, “She has always been like that. Even when I worked with her at the start of my career, as a co-star, as a partner and then my wife. She is very focused about what she does as a professional and as a mother, as a daughter and as a daughter-in-law. She is 100% in everything I don’t know how she manages it.”
Abhishek also got candid about Aishwarya and talked about how love blossomed between them. He said, "I first worked with Aishwarya in my initial films. We first worked together on Dhai Akshar Prem Ke. We were friends since then. We were dear friends. We were simultaneously doing another film, Kuch Na Kaho. We always had a close friendship, and in time, it evolved into something more than that." And further added, "Things took a serious turn during Umrao Jaan. After that, I proposed to her and then we got married and now we have a beautiful daughter, Aaradhya."
Abhishek further talked about being at the receiving end of so much negativity on social media. He went on to say, "Criticism doesn't make a difference to me, very honestly. I decided very early on in my career that I cannot allow these things to weigh me down. If you allow that pressure to bog you down, you will end up thinking only about that. I have my own path to walk and I am blessed to have a family that is so supportive and loving." Even though Junior Bachchan is not bogged down by this negativity and hate, it only affects him because he realises that it must be hard on his parents, Amitabh ji and Jaya ji. Abhishek shared, "At the start of my career, I was very confused when people were dedicating so much time and energy talking about the privilege that was afforded to me because of the home I was born. First and foremost, I did not choose the family I was born. It used to affect me because I used to feel bad for my parents."
Junior B remarked, "At the end of the day, I'm a professional. I do something which evokes a response from the public and I'm well aware of that and perfectly fine with it. They are also actors that work in the same industry as their son. I am not going to equate myself to their talent. But as a parent, I think it must be terrible for them to go through all this. I can take care of myself, I am 42. But I'm still their child. I'm the youngest in the family."
Reminiscing about an incident when his mother, Jaya Bachchan, broke down after he received his first award, Abhishek cited, "The first time I ever won an award for a film I did, my mother started crying. She was very emotional, and I understood where it was coming from. As a mother, she was happy that they have gone at my son for so long and this is his reply."
In another interview with the film critics, Anupama Chopra and Rajeev Masand on their Podcast Take 2, Abhishek talked about how observant Aishwarya is and said, “She saw my film the other day and I asked her what she thought about it, she remembers shots that I don’t remember. She has a very cinematic mind and she is very detailed that way. Even as a person, she pays a lot of attention to details. She is very thorough."
