Court marriages these days are gaining much popularity. Not only because they are easy, quick, hassle-free and save you Lacs' worth of unnecessary expenditure, but also because they are intimate and meaningful. And let’s face it, when you love someone truly, without any expectations or conditions, getting married to your soulmate is the only thing that counts and not the way you decide to get married in.
So, here are a few ways you can make your court wedding an affair to remember.
Wedding pictures are treasures that you can cherish for a lifetime. It doesn’t matter how and where you get married, what matters are your wedding shots. Make sure your photographer is good at taking candid shots. You can also tell him to get nice placards to hold while the pictures are being taken.
So, what if it is not in a mandap with hundreds of guests and lavish decorations? You are getting married right? So why give up on your childhood dream of dressing up like a princess on your D-Day? Wear your favorite designer label, get the best makeup artist to do your makeup and dress to kill!
A court wedding means that you will be having just a few guests, say 10-12. And obviously, all of them hold a special place in your life which is why you have chose them to be a part of your special day, right? So get customised invite hampers made for them. Your hampers can have a small bottle of wine, some chocolates, cookies etc, depending upon your budget.
And while getting the invites made, get your thank you hampers ready as well. And because you just have to give them just to a handful of people who are really close to you and took out their time to be a part of our special day, increase your budget a little on these hampers.
So while you are at it, go bonkers on the wedding favours too. People you invite will obviously get you amazing stuff for our wedding. So, be generous and get special gifts for them to give on the wedding day. There can be a gift for the most punctual guest, the best dressed, the funniest of the loot, etc. just make funny subtitles and hand over the rewards. And come on, who doesn’t like getting unexpected gifts?
Because you are having a small, simple and intimate court wedding, people might also be expecting a very simple after party. Well, turn the tables around! Create a hype about your awesome after party. Send your guests e-invites for saving the date not for the wedding but for the after party. Get a theme, get the booze and a lot of games. Let this party be a night that the city will talk about for days to come (or just your friends)!
So because you are already saving a LOTTTT of money by opting for a court marriage and also doing the sanest thing by doing that, make sure you spend some money on getting a sassy ride. Get the most awesome limo in your city to drive you to the court and back. And if you are an adventurous and fun couple, get a poster of you and your partner as a famous movie poster and get it fixed on the back of the car. You can also attach placards such as ‘’about to get hitched’’ or ‘’just married’’ on the car too!
While you obviously won’t be allowed to use sparklers inside the courtroom, you can have them outside. Get your siblings or pals to arrange for them and make sure they use it to greet you as you walk out of the court as newlyweds. These will be great shots for your photographer as well. You can also use flower petal for the same, even while entering the courtroom.
That’s what we are talking about baby!! Remember how you always dreamt of having a destination wedding for yourself when you saw the rest of the world opting for it, but always dropped the idea because you knew how expensive it would become to host so many guests out station? Well, now’s your chance to live that dream! Instead of wasting money on hosting people you hardly know on a big fat Indian wedding; why not go to your favorite destination with your close group and get married there, court style of course! You could also have the court wedding in your own city and fly to your favourite destination with the same people, the same night. Yes, yes, you are welcome!
Well not the typical one that you have in weddings that are too loud and too crowded (even though they are super fun), but you can have a small Baraat walk from a pre-decided point up till the court just for tradition sake and for the pictures too! Your family and friends too can have the joy at dancing at their son's/brother’s/ friend’s baraat which in North Indian weddings is the most sort-after tradition.
