Tom was best known for voicing iconic characters from Star Wars: The Clone Wars, The Powerpuff Girls and countless video games. In turn, he has left behind a lasting legacy that will continue to inspire future generations of animation. Cindy Roberts was married to Tom Kane for more than four decades. According to official statements from Kane's family and representatives, the couple married in the early 1980s. Eventually, she remained by Tom's side when he gradually became one of the most popular voice actors in the animation and gaming world. Some friends and colleagues of Tom often mention that Cindy was a steady force behind the actor's personal life. When he spent decades recording for a variety of TV shows, blockbuster films, video games and commercials, Cindy focused on raising their family.
In fact, Tom used to frequently praise her in public and call her the "Queen" of their family. Together, the couple raised nine children, three biological kids and six more that they welcomed through adoption and foster care. According to Tom's representatives, he and Cindy believed in creating a loving home for children in need. However, their daughter, Sam Kane, became important during the actor's later years. Especially when he suffered a devastating stroke in 2020, she used to frequently share updates about her family's condition.
After Tom's stroke in November 2020, the actor's life changed a lot. It reportedly damaged the speech centre of his brain and weakened the majority of the right side of his body. In turn, he lost his ability to speak, read, and write properly. Eventually, his condition forced him into retirement from voice acting in 2021. Yet, Cindy and their children stayed by his side.
In fact, the family members reportedly helped to coordinate his therapy, recovery treatments and public appearances while protecting his privacy. One of his final appearances came at the Lexington Comic and Toy Convention, where he reunited with his former The Powerpuff Girls co-stars in March 2026.
Tom Kane's death was officially confirmed by his representative and talent agency, Galactic Productions. They shared official statements to media outlets such as TMZ to reveal that the voice actor died on May 18, 2026. He passed away after suffering from complications related to the stroke he suffered in 2020. Some reports suggest that Tom was hospitalised in Kansas City. His representative mentioned that Tom fought through his health struggles with great resilience and strength. Meanwhile, they mentioned how Tom was not just an iconic artist but also a devoted husband and father. In their words:
"Though his voice may now be silent, the characters, stories, and love he gave to the world will live on forever."
Tom Kane had a long career spanning nearly five decades. He became one of the most recognised voices in the entertainment world over these years. Tom was especially admired for voicing Star Wars Universe characters such as 'Yoda', 'Admiral Yularen' and 'Admiral Ackbar' in shows, films and video games. Apart from that, he voiced characters in The Powerpuff Girls, Call of Duty Zombies franchise, Wolverine and the X-Men, and many characters in Fortnite, Kim Possible and Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends. In fact, he also served as a narrator and announcer for several Academy Awards broadcasts.
