The 33-year-old motorsports racer, who has eight Cup Series wins added to his name, confirmed his departure after completing his 12th full season, as announced by Hendrick Motorsports.
Bowman has been one of the most loved faces of motorsports racing of his time, and his retirement decision has left the association with bittersweet emotions. Amid this, fans are looking into the NASCAR star's lesser-known personal life, especially his longtime partner and fiancée, Chloe Henderson.
Unlike many partners of high-profile athletes, Chloe Henderson has largely stayed away from the spotlight. Though she prefers to keep her personal life and career mostly private, we do know that she is a North Carolina native and former hairstylist. While she maintains a professional hairstyling social media presence, her personal Instagram account remains private, with a bio that simply describes her as a "Charlotte, NC dog mom x3."
Even so, NASCAR fans have become familiar with her over the last two seasons. Henderson is regularly seen supporting Bowman during race weekends and has become a frequent presence in the Hendrick Motorsports garage before and after Cup Series events.
Bowman and Henderson reportedly began dating in early 2023, though they never publicly shared how they first met. Following occasional sightings of them together, the couple finally made their relationship public in September 2023, with the NASCAR star posting a vacation video of the pair enjoying time together in Malibu. Chloe, too, has since been a familiar face during Bowman's races.
The eight-time NASCAR Cup Series winner got engaged to Henderson in December 2025 after nearly three years together. Bowman announced the engagement on Instagram with a simple caption: "Did a thing."
In photos of the proposal, Bowman was seen sitting on one knee while Henderson proudly displayed her engagement ring. The couple's beloved dogs were also part of the special moment.
Speaking about their family life, Bowman and Henderson share a deep love for dogs. Though they are yet to expand their family, their domestic life revolves around three dogs: Finn (Bowman's dog), Merle (Henderson's dog), and Huck, a rescue they adopted together in June 2024.
Bowman is preparing for one final lap in his NASCAR career. The 33-year-old signed a one-year contract extension with Hendrick Motorsports, ensuring he'll drive the iconic No. 48 Chevrolet through the 2027 Cup Series season before retiring from full-time competition.
Bowman's retirement decision comes after months of speculation surrounding his future in the sport due to vertigo. He had a rather difficult run during the 2026 campaign, marked by inconsistent results and a four-race absence caused by his condition.
In recent years, Bowman faced additional setbacks, including a concussion in 2022 and a fractured back in 2023. In his statement shared via Hendrick Motorsports on Thursday, he said:
“I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about what’s next, and this feels like the right decision at the right time. The sport asks a lot of you, and I’ve learned it’s important to listen to your body and make the right choices for yourself."
With just one year left before leaving the track forever, Bowman is focused on going out in style. Having already signed for the full season of 2027, he said his "focus now is on making the most of my time on the racetrack and competing for wins." The driver behind the No. 48 car's wheel shared:
"We still have a lot to accomplish, and I want to close my career on a high note for our team and our fans. To have the chance to do that with this organization and these people is really special."
The Arizona native will spend the next two seasons chasing more victories with Hendrick Motorsports, hoping to add to his eight Cup Series wins before calling time on a career that has included playoff appearances, memorable victories and more than 400 starts.
Although Bowman hasn't confirmed whether marriage is part of his immediate post-retirement plans, stepping away from NASCAR's demanding 36-race schedule would definitely give him more time to focus on his personal life.
As of now, all eyes are on Bowman's final lap on the track. His fiancée has not publicly reacted to the announcement.
