Lara Dutta reveals why ‘Kaikeyi’ was the most misunderstood woman

As the film hit the screens, actress Lara Dutta penned a heartfelt note about playing 'Mata Kaikeyi'. She took to her IG handle and shared a series of pictures featuring her look and penned:

“What an extraordinary privilege to portray a mother who has perhaps been one of the most misunderstood women in history. To be entrusted with the responsibility of bringing alive her humanity… her angst, her vulnerabilities, her guilt and her remorse. A woman who changed the course of history. Or perhaps, one could say, set it upon the path it was always destined to take.”

“Today, this divine story comes to you. And I hope, in my own small way, I will do justice to Mata Kaikeyi. That you will look beyond centuries of perception and embrace her for the pivotal role she played in bringing a divine prophecy to fruition. Jai Shree Ram.”

Ramayana: Part 1 X reviews

Ramayana became one of the biggest Diwali releases in Indian cinema, with advance bookings worth over Rs. 100 crores for the opening weekend. As the film was released in theatres, people were delighted to see the performances of each and every character as the nuances of the epic characters were beautifully presented.

Content creator Ashish Chanchlani, who attended the screening, praised the film for its breathtaking visuals, spectacular action sequences and strong performances. The content creator took to his X handle and called Ramayana: Part 1 a film of "truly epic proportions". Not just the visuals, but the film’s VFX and action sequences too were praiseworthy.

The post-credit scene also introduces the one character we had all been waiting to see. Yes, the post-credit scenes give a glimpse of 'Surgiv' finding the ornaments, leading to Sunny Deol's entry as 'Hanuman'. The two-part mythological series, Ramayana, is produced by Namit Malhotra under Prime Focus Studios, DNEG, and Yash's Monster Mind Creations. While initial reports claimed Ramayana: Part 2 would be released on Diwali 2027, Namit Malhotra has confirmed it will arrive during Diwali 2028.
