Ramayana: Part 1 ending explained 'Sita's' cry for help and 'Jatayu's' sacrifice
Ramayana is not just a mythological epic; it holds the sentiments of millions of devotees who grew up listening to the tale of 'Lord Ram'. While adaptations came in the form of serials, films, and animations, they touched audiences' hearts every time. Now, with Nimit Malhotra's Rs 4,000 crore project, expectations for the film are at an all-time high.
The first part of the great epic follows 'Ram's' life in Ayodhya, his bond with his three brothers, 'Lakshman', 'Bharat' and 'Shatrughan', and the events leading to his exile. Ramayana: Part 1 also introduces the audience to 'Ravan' and his soney ki Lanka. The trouble actually begins when 'Lakshman' confronts 'Ravan's' sister, 'Shurpanakha', and cuts off her nose.

Seeking revenge, 'Ravan' makes a plan to abduct 'Sita' with the help of 'Marich', the demon who transformed into the golden deer. 'Ram' follows the deer into the woods, leading 'Sita' with 'Lakshman'. However, 'Marich' uses his powers to con 'Lakshman' into thinking that 'Ram' has been hurt. He follows 'Ram' into the forest, leaving 'Sita' behind inside the Lakshman rekha.
'Ravan' uses the opportunity to disguise himself as an ascetic seeking alms and tricks 'Sita' into crossing the protective boundary. He takes her away in the Pushpaka Vimana, heading towards Lanka. However, 'Sita's' cries for help catch the attention of 'Jatayu', who tries to stop him. He attacks the flying vehicle and puts up a brave fight, hoping to rescue 'Sita', only for 'Lankapati' to cut off his wings, leaving the bird gravely injured. 'Jatayu' falls to the ground as 'Ravana' continues his journey towards Lanka with 'Sita'.
What to expect from Ramayana: Part 2? The post-credit scene explained
When 'Ram' and 'Lakshman' return, they're shocked to find 'Sita' missing. They begin searching the forest and find 'Jatayu'. Before taking his last breath, the bird tells them what happened and points them in the direction the demon king went. 'Ram' is heartbroken by 'Jatayu's' death and performs his last rites. However, the incident also changes his approach to the journey ahead.
His grief soon turns into determination, and finding 'Sita' becomes his primary mission. The film ends on this emotional note rather than moving toward the eventual battle between 'Ram' and 'Ravan'. It leaves the audience with 'Ram' aware of 'Sita's' whereabouts but still far from reaching her. The post-credit scenes offer some important details for the next part.

During her journey to Lanka, 'Sita' drops her jewellery along the way. She hopes that the ornaments will serve as clues and help 'Ram' trace her route. The post-credit scene also introduces the one character we had all been waiting to see. As the scene switches to Kishkinda, the audience gets a glimpse of 'Surgiv' finding the ornaments, leading to the entry of Sunny Deol as 'Hanuman'.
The theatre went wild, and it made fans even more excited for Ramayana: Part 2. At the end, they also showed 'Ravan's' eldest son and the crown prince of Lanka, 'Meghanad' (also known as Indrajit). While the initial reports claimed that Ramayana: Part 2 would be released on Diwali 2027, Nimit Malhotra has confirmed that it will arrive during Diwali 2028.
