Hours after news emerged that the Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star had filed for divorce, both parents shared separate social media tributes for their eldest daughter, Nora, on her fifth birthday.
The separate birthday tributes came at a difficult time for the couple, who are reportedly preparing to end their seven-year marriage after years of relationship struggles.

Jen, 27, who is currently pregnant with the couple's fourth child, posted a sweet picture of Nora celebrating her birthday. She was photographed standing in a kitchen decorated with pink balloons and banners. The reality TV star expressed disbelief at how quickly her little girl is growing up, writing that she "can't believe" she is already five. Another picture showed Nora standing beside her birthday present, a pink bicycle with stabilizers and a basket.
Zac, 30, also marked the special occasion with a heartfelt post dedicated to his "baby girl." He posted a photo of Nora, saying she had the "biggest heart" and made everything "a little extra magical." Another picture showed Nora blowing out the candles on her birthday cake. Zac added a sweet wish to the photo, writing, "I hope all of your dreams come true."
Jen filed a petition for divorce Tuesday, November 3, 2026, in Utah’s Fourth Judicial District Court in Provo, according to court documents obtained by TMZ. She also filed a proposed parenting plan, but details of the couple’s custody arrangements have not been released. The couple shares three children, Nora (5), Lucas (3), and Penelope (1), and are expecting their fourth child. Jen announced her pregnancy in June 2026 through an Instagram post flaunting her baby bump.
Why are Jen and Zac Affleck getting divorced after 7 years?
The reality TV star first met Zac in 2018 through Mutual, a dating app designed for single Mormon women. They got engaged the next year and tied the knot in June 2019. Since then, their relationship has faced several challenges, some of which have played out on Hulu's reality series, The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.
Their disagreements have included Zac's gambling and his reaction to Jen potentially attending a Chippendales performance with her castmates during a Las Vegas trip. More recently, their differing expectations about Jen's career also became a source of tension when Jen said she wanted to appear in a Sports Illustrated photoshoot during an episode of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, Season 5.
Jen had previously spoken about the pressure of having her marriage play out in the public eye. In a September 2024 interview with Vulture, she admitted that the constant attention was frightening. She said, "We went into the season in a rocky place, but I still wanted to move forward with filming, because that’s what felt right to me, my career, and wanting to provide for my family."
The couple had also experienced a difficult period during Jen's pregnancy. In an August 2026 interview with PEOPLE, she revealed that she had dealt with prenatal depression and medical issues during her first trimester. She expressed gratitude to Zac for stepping in and looking after the children while she was unwell.
With a fourth baby on the way, the court reportedly requires both Jen and Zac to attend divorce orientation and parenting classes. Jen has been given 60 days from the petition date to complete the requirements, while Zac must attend within 30 days of receiving the notice.
Jen will also be starring on The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives: Orange County, a spin-off of the Hulu reality series, which premieres on November 12, 2026.
