For those unaware, she is teaming up with Angelina Jolie, who serves as the director of the film. During a recent interview, Salma opened up about how the movie required her to portray intense emotions, leaving her afraid to do her part.
Now, as Salma Hayek’s professional life is in the spotlight, the focus has also shifted to her personal life. While Salma is currently married to billionaire François-Henri Pinault, her relationship with Josh Lucas was once the talking point of Hollywood.
Salma Hayek began dating Josh Lucas shortly after she called it quits with her then-boyfriend, Edward Norton. The duo sparked romance rumors after they were spotted holding hands on the set of a Coke commercial that Salma was shooting at that time. Although Salma and Lucas did not reveal how they met, online reports claimed that they were introduced by Lucas’ The Hulk co-star Jennifer Connelly.
Salma and Josh’s relationship progressed pretty quickly, leading the duo to go official at the red carpet premiere of the latter’s movie, Wonderland. However, about a year later, Josh confirmed that he and Salma Hayek were no longer together. While promoting his film, Around the Bend in Beverly Hills, he said:
"We're not still together. I don't really want to talk about it more than that."
It is worth mentioning that a report about the actress also confirmed the breakup at the time, stating that the duo had split three months before Josh revealed the same. From that point on, Josh and Salma remained pretty tight-lipped about the matter until several years later, when the former broke his silence during an interview with GQ.
Opening up about his split from Salma Hayek, Josh said that it was due to the demanding nature of their jobs that they were driven apart. He said:
"In this business, people are very dedicated to what they do. It's violently competitive, and it's much tougher on women. And women of a certain age oftentimes feel they need to stay on the treadmill - the figurative treadmill. If both people are working, it's a problem."
When it came to his relationship with Salma Hayek, Josh confessed that they had a hard time keeping up with each other's schedules. He explained:
"She was in South Africa doing a movie, and I was in Australia making 'Stealth,' and with the time that we spent apart, invariably we broke up."
According to Josh Lucas, he even considered leaving Stealth at the time of their split. However, he eventually decided against it and starred in the movie as ‘Lt. Ben Gannon.' Josh confessed:
"I really did. That is the thing about the business. The choices you make and the movies become human life choices, in terms of 'What does this mean for my life?'"
While Salma Hayek and Josh Lucas' relationship did not last long, the exes have continued to remain on friendly terms. When asked about how he felt when Salma tied the knot with her now-husband, François-Henri Pinault, he said, “I love her; it's great for her. It's what she wanted.”
Josh also had only kind words for Salma when she welcomed her daughter, Valentina. He revealed that the actress had texted him to let him in on the happy news. Josh claimed that he was beyond happy for his ex, especially considering how much he loves and cares for her. Josh also added that Salma Hayek would make the best mom to Valentina.
