Mackenzie Shirilla has been in the spotlight ever since the Netflix documentary, The Crash, was released on May 15, 2026. A few days after the documentary arrived, prison records revealed that Mackenzie had faced several disciplinary actions behind bars. Mackenzie is additionally trending for the jail audio calls, where she has opened up on a lot of things.

A new jail audio call between Mackenzie Shirilla and her mother, Natalie, is now getting a lot of attention. TMZ acquired an audio of the conversation on June 1, 2026 (ET), where Mackenzie claimed that she was unable to get anything for herself from the commissary. She referred to a book, stating that she cannot read one book several times.
Mackenzie asked her mother to resolve the iPad issues so that she could be in touch with everyone. Mackenzie additionally complained about the fact that the days were going too slowly. Natalie asked her daughter if she could arrange a job for her inside the prison. However, Mackenzie believes that it won’t happen, as she told her mother:
“No, ‘cause the charges that I have, they don’t let people with charges like me get jobs, so I’m told. I haven’t asked the staff yet though. But I probably can’t get a fucking job cause I’m on the seventh floor. They’re probably not gonna let me get a job.”
Mackenzie Shirilla expressed her dissatisfaction with Natalie, saying that she needs a book or cards to ensure that she can spend the entire day easily. Furthermore, Mackenzie claimed that there was nothing to do in her room.
Another new audio call between Mackenzie Shirilla and her mother, Natalie, is now creating headlines. The audio was released by TMZ on June 2, 2026 (ET). Natalie was heard opening up to Mackenzie about certain rumours being spread about the latter in the Cleveland suburb. Natalie recalled an anonymous individual claiming online that there was no proper parental monitoring of Mackenzie. Natalie continued by saying:
“This was the party house, and I just let people have all kinds of parties here and everything. And finally, the neighbor across the street, she was like, ‘You guys, you don’t know what you’re talking about. That’s a wonderful family. They’re very nice. I live right across the street. There were never parties over there. I don’t know what you guys are talking about. Don’t believe everything you hear.’”
Natalie told Mackenzie Shirilla that people were allegedly spreading false stories about her, with certain individuals claiming that she vandalised a church, broke in, and destroyed property. While Natalie told Mackenzie that the rumours were being spread fast, Mackenzie responded by saying:
“Damn, Strongsville people are so sad and depressing. Like, they really have nothing credible. This is the saddest fucking town ever.”
According to NBC News, Mackenzie Shirilla was sentenced to life in August 2023 after the court found her guilty on four charges. She is currently at the Ohio Reformatory for Women in Marysville and cannot apply for parole until October 2037.
