Grammy-winning musician Lionel Richie checked himself into a local hospital after his St. Louis concert, which took place at The Muny in Forest Park. He felt some health issues towards the end of his show and was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for an immediate checkup. The doctors reportedly ran some tests on him to determine the cause of his latest medical emergency, which remains undisclosed to the public, as of early September 2026.
Amid that, sources close to Lionel Richie and his family told the Daily Mail that during his hospitalization, his three kids, daughters, Nicole, 44, and Sofia, 28, and son, Miles Brockman Richie, 32 were by his side. According to the source, Lionel's kids were "crazy scared they could lose him" to the undisclosed ailment. The source further stated that Nicole and Sofia have become "like moms" to their father amid his health scare. It depicts their love and care for the singer-songwriter.
Richie's daughters reportedly want him to take a break or at least slow down his career and focus on his recovery first. As per the source, Richie's son and daughters are "worried he could have serious heart issues." Another insider claimed that "His kids are always on him about taking care of himself", adding that "he means so much to them, he has always been there for them, he has been like a Super Dad."
Richie's son, Miles, also reportedly echoed his sisters' sentiments, saying he could not imagine life without their father, who acted as the "glue of the family." As for Lionel Richie's current health update, he is back home and being "doted on" by his family, although he remains optimistic, "feeling okay" and in his "usual jovial mood," the source stated.
