Mackenzie Shirilla's BF, Dom Sent Eerie 'Life Is Short' Text Before The Crash, Wanted To Break Up

Mackenzie Shirilla is currently serving her sentence for the murder of Dominic Russo and Davion Flanagan. Amid that, a report has surfaced revealing the final chilling texts from Dominic to Mackenzie.

Mackenzie Shirilla has been hogging the headlines ever since the documentary based on the 2022 Ohio crash was released on Netflix. For the unversed, the film titled The Crash follows the incident that took place in the early hours of July 31, 2022, that led to the death of Mackenzie's boyfriend, Dominic Russo and the couple's mutual friend, Davion Flanagan. However, while Mackenzie is serving her sentence in jail, several unknown factors about the crash and the couple's relationship have come forward. And now, a report by TMZ has revealed some chilling texts shared by Dominic to Mackenzie from before she killed him in the crash.

Dominic Russo was talking about life being short before Mackenzie Shirilla crashed the car

It was in the early hours of July 31, 2022, when Mackenzie Shirilla crashed her car into a brick building, claiming the lives of Dominic Russo and Davion Flanagan. However, what has left netizens surprised is that, weeks before the incident, Dominic was actually talking about "life being short". According to a text message obtained by TMZ, Dominic had sent some chilling text to Mackenzie.

The text came days after The Crash was released on Netflix and appeared to be Dominic Russo's attempt to break up with Mackenzie Shirilla. The text began with Dominic expressing how much he loved her, but he didn't believe they should be dating anymore. He was quoted as saying:

"Kenzie, you know I love you, but I don't think we should be together at this point. There isn't very much time on earth."

Dominic Russo wanted to break up with Mackenzie Shirilla

The text continued to show how Dominic Russo wanted to break up with Mackenzie Shirilla. The deceased asserted that he was not abandoning Mackenzie and really wished they could have worked things out. However, given their constant fights and threats, he no longer saw how they could have a healthy relationship. He concluded by saying how he believes that they should part ways so they can find happiness, and was quoted as saying:

"You know, I'd like to think we could stop fighting, but it's a breakup fight every week, neither of us deserves. That I don't wanna fight all the time, I know you don't either. Anyone who's around anyone every day of the week is bound to fight; if we can't separate for a little while, we are only going to fight more. I don't want you to think I'm abandoning you. I wish it could work, but I don't think it will at this point, especially with the threats. We should just break up so we can both find happiness somewhere else."

When did Dominic Russo send the text to Mackenzie Shirilla?

According to the report by TMZ, Dominic Russo sent the text to Mackenzie Shirilla on July 2, 2022, approximately 29 days before the fatal crash that killed him and their friend, Davion Flanagan. It was revealed that Mackenzie was driving 100 MPH when she crashed into a brick wall in Ohio, and she was later convicted of murdering them. Prosecutors said the crash was intentional, pointing out how at no point did Mackenzie even attempt to press the brake, but rather had her foot on the accelerator seconds before the crash. However, she didn't come out of the incident without any injury.

Mackenzie sustained life-changing injuries, including severe damage to her arm, which saw her muscle ripped away from her bone. In August 2023, over a year after the tragic crash changed everything, Mackenzie Shirilla was found guilty on 12 counts: Four counts of murder, four counts of felonious assault, two counts of aggravated vehicular homicide, one count of drug possession, and one count of possessing criminal tools, relating to the car she used for the crash.

On the contrary, Mackenzie Shirilla has maintained it was all a tragic accident. Her defence even claimed that she experienced a medical emergency behind the wheel, which led to the unfortunate crash. She is currently behind bars and will be eligible for parole in 2037.
