The actor was best-known for Menace II Society. Samuel's death comes after he fought a long battle with meningitis and other health issues. Meanwhile, let's know more about his wife, Shawna Stewart who supported him during his difficult final years.
Shawna Stewart shares a heartfelt letter to bid an emotional farewell to her late husband
After Samuel's death, Shawna took to her social media handle and shared a heartfelt tribute to her late husband. She recalled him as a "loving husband, devoted father, and determined father." The message reflected the emotional pain of witnessing her husband fight a difficult health battle for more than a year.

For the last few months, Shawna played the most important role in looking after Samuel. In fact, she was the medium who helped her family, friends, and supporters stay informed about his daily health updates. Eventually, when his health began to give up, she ensured that he was provided with adequate medical attention and support.
The late actor's friends and supporters also mentioned that Shawna was a stable support for Samuel through hospitalization, rehabilitation, surgeries, and recovery. Shawna and Monre have three children together: Kingston, Brooklynn, and Michele. Unlike others who prefer to keep things private, Shawna spoke about the importance of fulfilling Samuel's wishes and looking after him.
At the same time, Shawna confirmed that Samuel's health issues started nearly 18 months ago. He had contracted meningitis while working in Las Vegas. Later, she claimed that many medical facilities had initially misdiagnosed his condition. This caused an expected delay in proper diagnosis, which delayed the actor from getting proper treatment.
Eventually, when they found out about his illness, it had already spread to his brain and spine, leading to life-threatening complications. Samuel's medical journey became difficult, and he suffered MRSA pneumonia and a practically collapsed lung. Soon, he had to undergo multiple brain surgeries. At the same time, it caused seizures linked to the swelling in his brain. During everything, Stewart stayed by her husband's side for medical care. She also had the power of attorney and oversaw his health and finances.
Things became more difficult for Samuel when his wife was involved in a legal battle with his mother, Joyce Patton. It was during the weeks leading up to his death that they had a conflict over who would have the authority over the actor's finances when he was ill.
Joyce filed a conservatorship petition and questioned Samuel's marriage. According to court filings, she alleged that they were not living together and raised concerns over Stewart's authority to manage the finances. However, she stated that she was simply following her husband's wishes. Stewart explained that Samuel had specifically asked her not to let anyone make decisions about his finances and healthcare.
