Gwyneth Paltrow, the ex-wife of Coldplay's lead singer Chris Martin, was hired by Astronomer for PR after the Coldplay Kiss Cam Scandal.
The Coldplay "kiss cam" controversy has taken an unexpected turn after the band's lead singer, Chris Martin, 's ex-wife, Gwyneth Paltrow, entered the controversy. She shot a tongue-in-cheek ad for the tech Company, Astronomer, whose CEO and HR were caught in a cosy moment at a Coldplay concert. Although the ad came days after the scandal went viral online, neither Andy Byron nor Kristin Cabot involved in the incident, spoke about it. However, after a long wait, Kristin Cabot has finally broken her silence for the first time and called out the ad for adding to the harm already faced by her. Here's what she said.
Following her months-long discussion as the subject of the Coldplaygate controversy, Kristin Cabot recently sat down for a conversation with The New York Times to address the issues. Among other things, she discussed Coldplay lead man, Chris Martin's ex-wife, Gwyneth Paltrow, who got involved in the matter after shooting a damage control ad for Astronomer, the company at the center of the controversy.
Kristin Cabot admitted she felt disappointed by how everyone handled the whole situation. She revealed that previously she used to admire Gwyneth for building Goop in a platform meant to "empower, support, and uplift women." However, the former HR admitted that months after the incident, she realised how other woman harshly judges women, and their personal mistakes are made more public. In her words:
"What I've seen these last months makes it harder for me to believe that it's all about the men holding us back. I think we are holding ourselves back tremendously by cutting each other down."
The former HR representative clarified that her criticism of the ad was not meant to absolve men of guilt; "I am not excusing men,", she said. For those unaware, Gwyneth's Astronomer video showcased her as a 'temporary spokesperson,' where she joked about the company's sudden viral fame and redirected the attention to its data workflow services. According to the New York Times, Gwyneth had declined to comment on Kristin's remarks for the profile.
In the same interview, Kristin opened up about her personal situation at the time of the incident, when she was already going through a separation from her former husband, Andrew Cabot. She explained that she and the former Astronomer CEO, Andy Byron, bonded over their respective marital separations and the pressures of their professional lives. She admitted, "I made a bad decision," and described it as an alcohol-fueled and inappropriate moment. She admitted her responsibility for her actions and resigned from her role. In her words:
"I took accountability, and I gave up my career for that. That's the price I chose to pay."
The original Coldplay incident occurred in July 2025 when Andy Byron and Kristin Cabot were caught in an intimate embrace on the Kiss Cam jumbotron screen at the band's concert. They quickly panicked at the moment, which sparked a joke from Chris Martin onstage, and soon netizens dug out their identity as senior executives at Astronomer. Moreover, when Internet users discovered their marital status and destinations, it led to immediate scrutiny. Soon, an internal review was conducted in the company. Initially, Andy Byron resigned as CEO, and later Kristin stepped down as the HR on the company. Since then, she has faced severe online harassment and professional fallout, describing herself as "unemployable" due to the viral attention.
