A report from U.S. Sun stated that Duckworth was found unresponsive in a bathroom. North Dakota officials confirmed the TV personality died on August 11, 2026.
His mother, Joni, shared the news publicly two days later, in a Facebook post on Thursday, August 13, 2026. In her message, Joni confirmed that her son Tyler has passed away. She noted that an official cause of death had not yet been determined and that the family was waiting for additional information before finalizing service arrangements.
Joni also mentioned she would update Facebook once she and her husband decided on the details. Authorities reportedly classified the case as an "unattended death," indicating no witness was present when he was located.
An insider close to Duckworth told The U.S. Sun that he had recently undergone a surgical procedure, but there is currently no confirmation linking that to his death.
Tyler Duckworth’s last social media post goes viral while The Challenge members express their grief
While the news of Tyler Duckworth’s death is creating headlines, his last social media post has now gone viral. Before his passing, the 44-year-old reality star shared his excitement about connecting with fans and reuniting with fellow competitors at The Challenge Mania event in Minneapolis. On August 2, 2026, Tyler wrote on Instagram:
“So proud to represent my hometown of Minneapolis along with these other Challenge legends.”
He also expressed that meeting fans and hearing their stories of courage, inspiration, and joy was humbling every time. As family and friends mourn, The Challenge community members also expressed their grief on multiple platforms.
Paulie Calafiore recalled seeing Tyler Duckworth at The Challenge Mania event, saying that it was hard to imagine that he was gone and sent prayers to his family and friends, calling him a legend of the franchise. Brad Fiorenza said he was heartbroken over the news and reflected on their shared bond as part of The Challenge family. He noted he was grateful for the memories, especially from the recent event, and said Tyler would be deeply missed, hoping his spirit lives on in those he touched.
Rachel Robinson, a three-time champion, posted on her Instagram Story that she hoped Tyler Duckworth’s memory would be a blessing and that they loved him. Tina Barta shared on Instagram that some friendships are defined by memories and laughter, not just time. She called Tyler a true friend and confidant, and said she was grateful their paths crossed and that she would carry those memories.
Derrick Kosinski told People that they had shared a room on All Stars 2 and that Tyler was an amazing person. Derrick described him as a bright light and joyful presence. He also recalled competing against Tyler, noting Tyler had eliminated Johnny Bananas in the famous Back Up Off Me elimination, went 40 minutes against CT, won Cutthroat, and later won Rivals with Johnny.
Tyler initially gained recognition after appearing on the MTV show, The Real World: Key West, in 2006, shortly after he graduated from Tufts University. He later competed on six seasons of The Challenge, including The Duel, The Gauntlet III, Cutthroat, Rivals, All Stars 2, and All Stars 3. He won championships on both Cutthroat and Rivals.
