Janhvi Kapoor has been hitting the headlines with her recent film, Peddi, which features her and Ram Charan in the lead roles. The sports drama was released on June 4, 2026, and within just five days of its theatrical run, it grossed roughly Rs. 250-300 crore worldwide. While the movie got some good response from the viewers, some remained furious with Janhvi Kapoor's alleged hypersexualisation in the movie.
The backlash has been intensifying every hour, and so much so that director Buchi Babu Sana had to come out and apologise, while announcing that the controversial scenes of Janhvi, who played the role of 'Achiyyamma' in the movie, will be edited. Amid this, the actress's alleged salary was also revealed. So, let's have a look at how much the actress was paid for her role in Peddi.
If the reports are to be believed, Ram Charan, the lead of the movie, was paid Rs. 60-70 crore for his role in the movie. Speaking of Janhvi Kapoor, she was said to be paid around Rs. 5-6 crore in the movie for playing the role of 'Achiyyamma'. Reports claimed that not only Janhvi but also her co-star, Ram Charan, was 'upset' over the filmmakers' choosing to objectify her. The actress's fan club shared several screenshots, while claiming that those were Janhvi's chats with her fans, wherein she allegedly revealed that she actually clarified that there would be no boob or waist shots, but it kept on happening.
She also allegedly revealed that even Ram Charan got upset with this and intervened. Janhvi added that these things keep happening in the South, while calling Ram Charan a sweet person who stepped in to voice the issue she was facing. To mention, the authenticity of these viral screenshots couldn't be verified; they have been doing rounds on social media platforms ever since the audience shared their points of view in the way of hypersexualising and objectifying the actress.
In an interview with Screen, Buchi Babu Sana talked about the criticism that has been out there with the claims that Janhvi has been hypersexualised. He added that the track, which was also in the conversation earlier, might have been misread by people. It was also revealed by him to Screen that he was a bit radical in the movie, because Peddi comes from a remote place, so his intention was to bring the rawness out on the screen, only to fix it in the end and show that the character was like that for his upbringing. He also apologised and mentioned that all the controversial scenes have been removed. He said:
"I wanted to show the rawness and later correct it in the end, saying that this guy is this way because of his upbringing and atmosphere. For such a character, he thinks he has to marry the woman he loves. In this process, a few shots turned misleading. We have taken corrective measures to remove them, and we have removed them."
