While he has made a name for himself on the field because of his game, it seems that the same is true even when he is off the field. For those unaware, Jake is married to Haley Cavinder. In a recent interview, she opened up about the unexpected way in which their love story began.
Haley Cavinder recently made an appearance on the WAG World series. While speaking with host Skyler Caruso, she claimed that an unexpected DM sent by her now-husband, Jake Ferguson, played a major part in them getting together. The 25-year-old said, “He just DMed me and asked how my golf game was.”
Haley was a standout basketball player at Fresno State University and the University of Miami. While Haley was still attending school in Florida back in 2023, it put her in close proximity to Jake’s family, in addition to her own. Recalling the time, she said:
“When I first met Jake, I just graduated from the University of Miami. His mom has a place in Fort Myers Beach, and my grandparents live in Naples, so we were very close, like two hours.”
At the time, neither Haley nor Jake appeared to be rushing into anything serious. But things soon changed after the two spent 10 consecutive days together. This also gave Haley the rare opportunity to see the Dallas Cowboys tight end away from football. In her words:
“I wasn't looking for anything, and I don't know if Ferg was at that time either. But then we spent 10 days together straight, and he's just a good, down-to-earth human being.”
Haley Cavinder went on to praise her husband. She gushed about how Jake’s personality made a big difference for her, as it was the opposite of the stereotypes that can come with dating an athlete. She explained:
“Right away, I was just like, wow, outside of who he is on the field, dating athletes in this space and even probably dating us, we all come with a lot, and being in the environment, you never know what you’re going to get. I found a good one. My first impression is still who he is today.”
According to Haley, Jack Cavinder is a really grounded person. She confessed that he makes her better in everything. Haley’s twin sister, Hanna, who joined her on WAG World, also shared her first impression of the NFL star. She claimed that at first she thought it was all fake because it seemed too good to be true. Hanna was skeptical about Jack and thought there was no way he would continue being that nice all the time. This is why she wanted to see how things progressed in six months.
With Haley and Hanna sharing a unique bond, the two have always been really close and protective of each other. So naturally, when Haley decided to date Jake Ferguson, her sister had to approve of him before they could take the next step.
Jack passed Hanna’s six-month rule and went on to propose to Haley in a dreamy beach setting in April 2025. Next year, on June 20, 2026, Haley and Jake tied the knot in a beachfront wedding ceremony at the Biltmore Hotel in Miami. While Haley said that “nothing” has surprised her about being married, she said that her life with Jake Ferguson is going great.
