Matthew Lowe, 33, and Emily exchanged vows in an outdoor wedding ceremony. It was attended by several celebrities and their close family members. According to Page Six, the guest list also included Adam Levine, Zoe Saldaña, and Maria Shriver. Moreover, Gwyneth Paltrow made a special appearance as she officiated the ceremony. Overall, it became a significant gathering of Hollywood personalities.
For those who don't know, Matthew is the eldest son of actor Rob Lowe and his wife, Sheryl Berkoff. They have been married for 35 years and also share a younger son, John Owen Lowe, 30. However, Matthew's wedding was an important moment for the family as they celebrated a new milestone in his life while dealing with a difficult chapter in their family.
Before the ceremony, Emily gave an inside glimpse of the wedding celebrations in her Instagram Stories. She shared a sunset photo showing tables and festive flags at Bluewater Grill, which is a local eatery in Santa Barbara. She also gave her followers a preview of the wedding weekend. Emily captioned it, writing:
"It's wedding weekend eve!"
The wedding took place nearly 10 days after Rob's brother, Chad Lowe's 13-year-old daughter, Fiona's death. In fact, Chad Lowe and his family made their first appearance at the wedding after their grave loss. Later, several members of the Lowe family shared tribute messages for the little one, reflecting their grief. Rob's younger son, John Owen, had shared a few lines from Emily Dickinson's poem, Hope is the Thing with Feathers, in his Instagram Stories. In read:
"HOPE is the thing with feathers that perches in the soul, and sings the tune without the words, and never stops at all."
The poem explains how hope is something that continues to sustain itself even during life's most difficult moments. So, the post was a quiet tribute to his young cousin while the family was facing an unimaginable loss. Chad had also returned to social media in the days following Fiona's death. He shared a video excerpt from the On Healing podcast, which featured guests such as Gerry Hussey. He discussed human connection and peace.
Rob Lowe has not shared a formal public statement about his niece's death. However, reports shared that he has been supportive of his brother and the family privately during this period.

Two weeks before Matthew Lowe and Emily Markus' wedding, Rob's brother, Chad, and his wife, Kim Painter, lost their 13-year-old daughter, Fiona Lowe. It has left the family devastated. Chad and Kim also share two more daughters, Mabel, 17, and Nixie, 10.
Following Fiona's death, the family shared a statement with Page Six and described her as a loving, intelligent, and creative young girl who loved to dance. They mentioned how she was deeply loved by her parents and sisters. In turn, the family asked for privacy as they dealt with the loss. According to reports, the 13-year-old was pronounced dead at a hospital on September 29, 2026. Later, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner cited her death as a suicide.
