Recently, in June 2026, Akanksha revealed on Lock Upp 2 that she and Gaurav have been living separately for a year and are headed for divorce. Amid the intense scrutiny and unfounded rumours surrounding the duo, she claimed that their 10-year marriage ended due to Gaurav's change of stance on not wanting kids. She alleged that he was previously okay with her wish but isn't anymore. Following that, Gaurav's friend, Anuj Sachdeva defended him and scrutinised Akanksha's words.
Following Akanksha Chamola's revelation that her disagreement with Gaurav Khanna over having kids led to their split, Anuj Sachdeva took a dig at her. For the unversed, Anuj is also a popular TV actor and reality show star like Gaurav, and they have been close friends for a long time. Anuj has spent time with the estranged couple to understand their dynamics; however, he was also allegedly unaware that they had been living separately for about a year. In a recent chat with podcaster, Vicky Lalwani, Anuj shared that Gaurav had no idea Akansha would announce their separation on the show, and he would prefer privacy over publicity. Anuj stated:
"I did not know that Gaurav and Akanksha were not staying together since the last 9 months...But yes, I spoke to Gaurav after the news got splashed. Gaurav was completely unaware that Akanksha is going to go public about the current status of their marriage in Lock Upp. And yes, I must say that Gaurav is not washing his dirty linen in public."
Anuj was asked whether he felt Akanksha and Gaurav had parted ways because they were conflicted about having kids, to which he responded that he did not. Anuj thinks there's some other reason behind it. He also slammed Akanksha Chamola, saying her statements made it seem as though she was miserable in her marriage to Gaurav, which he said was absolutely untrue. Anuj claimed Gaurav loved her a lot and always complied with her.
Weighing in on the reason behind Akanksha's sudden public revelation about the split, Anuj stated she might have done it to chase clout and generate buzz around her Lock Upp 2 appearance. Anuj Sachdeva's exact words were:
"When Akanksha says that she's now going to explore life, it sounds as if she was caged in marriage with Gaurav. Not at all. Gaurav really loved her a lot and gave her all that she wanted. I don't think so [the conflict over having kids caused their split]. Besides, that's a very personal thing which nobody should ask or speculate about. So far, Akanksha had never gone public about this. I wonder if she's doing it to increase the eyeballs on the show."
Akanksha told the fellow Lock Upp 2 contestants that she had made it clear to Gaurav that she lacked a maternal instinct right at the beginning of their marriage. Her estranged husband was fine with her decision to not have kids; however, his mindset has since changed. After almost a decade of spousal life, Akanksha told him he could leave her if he felt having kids was a priority for him. She admits that in most cases, people marry to expand their families, and she understands where Gaurav was coming from. Thus, they decided to part ways mutually and find their own happiness.
