Add BollywoodShaadis on GooglePrime Video's highly anticipated prequel series to Reese Witherspoon's timeless classic, Legally Blonde, is almost here. The series, titled Elle, is soon going to grace the television screens, and we now have a complete look at the cast bringing a young 'Elle Woods' and her high school world to life.
The prequel, set years before 'Elle Woods' headed to Harvard Law School, follows our beloved pink-loving protagonist during her teenage years. In fact, the excitement surrounding the show has been so long that Prime Video already renewed it for a second season before the first one even premiered. So, which actors are joining the world of 'Elle Woods' in the much-anticipated prequel? Let's take a look.
Let's begin with the highlight of the show: the protagonist, 'Elle Woods'. For this role, actress Lexi Minetree has been cast to lead the series by playing a teenage 'Elle'. Before landing her breakout role, Minetree appeared in projects including Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and The Murdaugh Murders. Her emotional casting reveal alongside Reese Witherspoon quickly went viral on social media, and longtime fans of the franchise are already excited about the similarity in facial features.
Next on the cast is Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin star Chandler Kinney, who is joining the show as 'Kimberly', a sharp-tongued archenemy of 'Elle Woods' at Rainier West High. Her character is described as one of the resident mean girls of the institution. Kinney has already established herself as a familiar face to young audiences, thanks to her roles in Lethal Weapon, Zombies 2, Girl Meets World, and K.C. Undercover. Needless to say, young fans are already excited to see her mean-girl persona come to life once again.
This time, it's not 'Warner' (played by Matthew Davis), but the school's heartthrob, 'Miles', brought to life by actor Jacob Moskovitz. Viewers may remember him from previous roles in works like Y2K, Brian, and Here Comes the Flood, but Elle could be his biggest breakout yet. It remains to be seen how his character plays out in the show.
While the rest of the cast has drawn attention, it was the cast announcement of James Van Der Beek that became a highlight of the show. The beloved Dawson's Creek actor, who tragically died in February 2026 following a prolonged battle with colorectal cancer, will grace the screen once again in what has been one of his career's final roles. In Elle, James appears as 'Dean Wilson,' a school district superintendent and mayoral candidate.
Unlike Legally Blonde, where viewers only briefly see 'Elle' interacting with her parents, this time, there will be a more detailed introduction to the teen's family. Playing 'Elle's confident and supportive mom, 'Eva Woods' will be June Diane Raphael, the actress better known for Grace and Frankie, New Girl, and Party Down.
On the other hand, Tom Everett Scott portrays 'Wyatt Woods,' the family's patriarch. Fans know Scott from popular series like That Thing You Do!, 13 Reasons Why, and The Summer I Turned Pretty.
Just like the original movie, Elle features an ensemble cast, introducing fresh faces along with familiar ones. Actress Gabrielle Policano, who previously appeared in Babygirl, is playing her biggest project yet as 'Liz', a student who isn't exactly thrilled about being friends with 'Elle' on their first meeting. British actor Zac Looker lands his first major U.S. streaming role as 'Dustin,' a young student activist at the school. Fans may remember him from Geek Girl, A Kind of Spark, and Apple's sci-fi drama, Invasion.
Elle features several familiar faces in key supporting roles, starting with Jessica Belkin as 'Madison' and Logan Shroyer as 'Josh,' one of the students in Elle's orbit. Amy Pietz takes on the role of 'Donna,' the school's no-nonsense secretary, Lisa Yamada plays 'Amber,' one of 'Elle's friends from Bel-Air, and Chloe Wepper as chemistry teacher and cheerleading choreographer 'Ms. Burke'. Some other familiar faces include David Burtka, Kayla Maisonet, and Daniel Chand. Actor Matt Oberg appears as 'Principal Anderson', helping round out the colourful world of Rainier West High.
The wait is almost over as Prime Video has officially set the show to premiere on July 1, 2026. As a prequel to Legally Blonde (2001), Elle follows the journey of a young 'Elle Woods' during her junior year of high school, years before she became the Harvard Law student fans know and love. The much-anticipated series is the lovechild of Laura Kittrell's direction and produced by Reese Witherspoon's Hello Sunshine banner.
With an early Season 2 renewal already secured, it appears Prime Video is betting big on the return of one of pop culture's most beloved characters. Whether you're a longtime Legally Blonde fan or discovering 'Elle Woods' for the first time, the upcoming series will surely be one of the most anticipated young-adult releases of the year!
