The story of Deewana revolves around 'Munna', an intermediate dropout from a lower-income family in Hyderabad. He is totally careless and spends his days roaming around Hyderabad with his friends, sharing one-by-three Irani chai, triple-riding on a bike, flirting with women on the streets and getting into street fights. However, things begin to change when 'Munna' meets 'Amulya', who works at a Mee Seva centre.
While 'Munna' starts finding excuses to visit her every day, 'Amulya' pays no attention. Despite his relentless wooing, 'Amulya' rejects him and throws him a challenge. She tells 'Munna' to earn more than her, secure a government job like hers, and then come back. However, it doesn't take 'Munna' long to realise how difficult these government job exams are, and his limited qualifications only make them worse. As he struggles to transform his life, he encounters unexpected truths that change everything.
After 'Amulya' gives 'Munna' the challenge, he begins preparing for the exams. Meanwhile, 'Munna' ends up in the police station when he realises how much his father sacrificed for him. This realisation hits him hard, and it becomes a major turning point in his life. He starts working hard, prepares for the Sub-Inspector (SI) exams, and changes into a mature and responsible person.
In the final scene, 'Amulya' sees 'Munna's' transformation and seems to be impressed by him. She realises that 'Munna' has not changed just to impress her but has truly become a better person. Only after seeing 'Munna's' genuine change, 'Amulya' accepts his love and the couple has their happily ever after.
