Amid this, Cristiano’s fiancee, Georgina Rodriguez, strongly reacted to a fake comment from Joao’s girlfriend criticising him.
Joao Neves made headlines after he scored one goal for Portugal in the opening match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. In a post-match interview, Joao acknowledged Cristiano’s contribution to the team and to the world of football. But according to him, at the moment, both he and their team know that Christiano is no different. He added that Cristiano is just another player. Joao was quoted as saying:
"We know what Cristiano has done for us, for our national team, and for the world of football. But at this moment, he and we know that he is no different. He is just another player here to help. He is no different from the others. He is here to contribute, just like all of us."
Soon after Joao Neves called Cristiano Ronaldo 'just another player', a user allegedly wrote on Instagram that Joao should pass the ball more to the GOAT player. The comment was shared on an Instagram page called @record_mexico. The viral screenshot reportedly showed Joao Neves’ girlfriend, Madalena Aragao, replying to the comment, "Tell your goat to retire; he's very selfish." However, Madalena’s comment was fake and was AI-edited. But Cristiano’s fiancee, Georgina Rodriguez, thought it was real and replied in defence of her partner. She wrote:
"Wow! This generation is coming through strong!"
Last month, on May 22, 2026, Georgina Rodriguez took to her Instagram handle to share her joy as her partner won the Saudi Pro League championship. She penned a heartfelt note for Ronaldo. Georgina was seen cheering from the stands. She wrote:
"What a joy to see you fulfilling your dreams with the same passion, discipline, and dedication as always. Behind every victory are years of sacrifice, strength, and heart. Today we celebrate a very important trophy… but I celebrate the man you are. Congratulations, my love. It makes me so happy to see you smile like that."
Cristiano Ronaldo found love in Georgina after his split from model, Irina Shayk. Georgina and Cristiano met while the former was working as a sales assistant at a Gucci store. Shortly after their first meeting, the duo began dating. In January 2017, Cristiano and Georgina made their first public appearance as a couple. Later, on May 25, 2017, the pair made their relationship Insta-official. They welcomed twins via surrogate on June 19, 2017.
