Chad Gilbert was loved by many, and he shared that love with his family. The people close to him described him as a devoted husband and father. Following his demise, his fans have been revisiting his social media updates, including his final post featuring his wife, Lisa Cimorelli, and their daughter, Lily Gilbert. Lily is their only child, born in July 2021, and is five years old as of 2026.
Chad's last Instagram post about his wife and kid included moments from Lily's fifth birthday. Chad and Lisa seemed to throw Lily an intimate party at home, which they adorned with balloons and other decorative pieces. One photo showed Lisa hugging their little princess, who wore a crown. Another picture showed Lily opening a big present, which had "birthday" written on its cover.
Chad Gilbert, in the caption of the post, shared that they celebrated little Lily's birthday for two days, however, he still couldn't process that she had already turned five. The late musician called his daughter "fun, thoughtful, outgoing, and loving" and shared that if he could, he would party with her every day. He then thanked his wife, Lisa, for giving birth to their daughter and expressed gratitude to the people who sent Lily thoughtful birthday gifts. The caption could be read as:
"5 fricken years old. I can't believe it. Celebrated my daughter's bday the last two days. She's so fun, thoughtful, outgoing and loving I honestly wish we could party for her birthday everyday. Thanks to our family and friends for sending their birthday wishes and all the nice gifts. Thank you to my wife for holding it down for our family and having this little one with me making all my dreams come real."

Chad Gilbert's health struggles started in late 2021 when Lisa found him unresponsive in his bed and called the emergency services. After a complete analysis, doctors found a rare cancerous tumor in his adrenal gland. So, he underwent major surgery, which was successful. Still, the disease returned.
During the next few years, Chad faced multiple surgeries, chemotherapy sessions, and immunotherapy treatments. In fact, cancer had spread to Chad's spine, lungs, and eventually his brain. Earlier in 2026, he again had to undergo emergency surgery to remove three brain tumors after feeling weakness during his shows. Still, he continued working on music and spending time with his family.
One of the most emotional moments for fans was when Chad made a surprise return to the stage in June 2026 in Nashville. He explained that watching his daughter see him perform was a dream come true for him. After two months, Chad passed away peacefully in his sleep on September 20, 2026.
The news was confirmed in a joint statement from New Found Glory and Lisa Gilbert, which revealed that Chad Gilbert spent his final moments with his better half and his mother by his side.
