Add BollywoodShaadis on GoogleBrad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were married for five years from 2014 to 2019. Three years after their divorce, the relationship came into the limelight when Brad filed a lawsuit against his ex-wife in 2022 for selling her share of the French winery, Chateau Miraval, without seeking permission from him. Angelina countersued, claiming there was no two-party consent agreement between them and that she had attempted to acquire all the shares by speaking with Pitt, who refused to do so until Angelina signed an NDA.
More than three years after the case was filed, Brad Pitt won the case on June 24, 2026. The latest court records revealed that the California Court of Appeals has ruled in favour of Brad, overturning a previous ruling that had allowed Russian businessman, Yuri Shefler, to exit the case.
Brad Pitt alleged that Angelina Jolie sold her winery shares to a subsidiary of the Stoli Group, Tenute del Mondo. Yuri Shelfer previously claimed in a motion that he did not have a big role in the negotiations of Tenute to purchase Miraval. A lower court agreed with him, ruling that Brad Pitt did not submit any evidence of Shefler’s intentional involvement in California business activities to benefit from them.
On June 24, 2026, the California Court of Appeals reversed its earlier position on Shefler’s part in the transaction. The judges rejected his argument that he played a small part in the deal, stating it was unbelievable that an experienced businessman like Yuri Shelfer would put nearly USD 40 million at stake in a deal he supposedly knew nothing about and wasn’t involved in. A motion hearing to require Shefler’s deposition is scheduled on July 8, 2026.
An insider stated that Brad Pitt’s victory in the case is a step towards transparency over everything that happened. The source stated that Angelina Jolie decided to choose Yuri as a partner in the business despite knowing that Brad Pitt had certain issues with him. The insider claimed that Jolie sold her shares to Shefler as she was well aware of the fact that Brad was going to refuse to do the same.
While the court’s verdict on the matter is trending, legal documents about the case revealed a few days ago that the California Supreme Court approved a request from Brad Pitt’s lawyers to get a testimony from Stoli Group members. Brad’s motion contended that investors from the company had direct insight into the sale of the French vineyard in 2021.
Brad Pitt approached the court in June 2026 with new documents, seeking to depose Stoli Group’s Alexey Oliynik, who allegedly refused to provide the important documents or sit for a questioning, claiming that, as a Swiss resident, he cannot be compelled to participate.
A year after Brad sued Angelina Jolie, he stated seeking compensation from his ex-wife in 2023 for selling Shefler’s “spirit conglomerate,” which had a link to Russia. Brad’s legal team argued that Stoli Group is already facing a boycott for multiple reasons, and Angelina Jolie’s deal was expected to bring trouble to the reputation of the company that Pitt worked hard to develop.
Angelina Jolie filed new documents and condemned Brad Pitt, arguing that his portrayal of Shefler as connected to Russia was a false and xenophobic attack, given that Shefler is reportedly a Russian expatriate who has long opposed Vladimir Putin. Filings submitted in June state that testimony from Oliynik and the most knowledgeable representatives of Stoli Group’s wine unit, Tenute del Mondo B.V. and Nouvel LLC, must now be completed in London before September 30, 2026.
