It was soon confirmed that Brian and her brother were living at the Airbnb. Now, hours after the actress' passing, a neighbor has revealed what happened in the moments leading up to her passing.
Inside Hayden Panettiere's last hours
According to reports, Hayden Panettiere spent her last hours at a luxury apartment complex in Greenville. However, it was only after her death that her neighbors found out that she was living there. In a conversation with Page Six, a tenant revealed the harrowing details of the hours leading up to and after the actress' death. He said:
"I was shocked, as I'm sure everyone in Greenville was, to find out she was here. I don't know that she was there long, and I'm not sure she even ever left the apartment. I can only speak for myself, but you know, I never saw her, and I haven't spoken to anyone else who said they have. The apartment complex has sent out a couple of messages saying it wasn't anything criminal and that there's no reason for anyone to be scared or anything like that."
In the same conversation, the neighbor revealed that the police arrived around noon on August 16, 2026, and remained at the scene until around 8 PM. He further shared how when they saw the coroner's vehicle, they understood that someone had passed away. However, it was only the next morning that they found out it was Hayden Panettiere. He recalled the jarring news and said:
"It's still kind of jarring to hear that someone of her stature was here and then that tragically happened to her. The coroner's vehicle showed up and, of course, I knew then that there was a death. Then woke up this morning to hear that it was Hayden, which is just still shocking."

While the neighbor didn't have much more information, the source did notice two men "sitting outside the apartment with cops." The tenant noted they believed the apartment where she died was an Airbnb rental, which was later confirmed by the news outlet. The neighbor said, "They looked like they were in shock, not speaking, and had their heads down."
According to reports, a 911 call revealed that the tragedy struck around 1:51 PM on August 16, 2026. An "unidentified female" at the address had gone into cardiac arrest. Minutes later, authorities reported there had been an "overdose" and that "CPR [was] in progress." Once the emergency responders arrived at the scene, they attempted to resuscitate Hayden Panettiere with advanced cardiac life support and chest compressions.
However, despite their best efforts, Hayden Panettiere was pronounced dead at 2:32 PM. The cops confirmed her death to NBC News and shared that there were no signs of foul play. In a statement, the police said:
"Upon arrival, medical assistance was administered; however, the individual, later identified as Hayden Panettiere, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The case is under investigation by the Greenville Police Department in conjunction with the Greenville County Coroner's Office," the spokesperson continued. "The preliminary investigation has not indicated any signs of foul play or suspicious circumstances. An acquaintance of Ms. Panettiere placed the 911 call."
