Social media users debate over the viral video of the elderly man slapping the young Cubs fan
No sooner did the video make rounds on social media than a discussion began. While some of the social media users defended the elderly person's action, others slammed him for the way he reacted. While some mentioned that the old man's smacking the young man was justified, as he was pissed and anyone of his age could have done the same if they were in the person's place.
On the other hand, a certain section of netizens said that no matter what the case is, no one should smack the next person. A certain section of social media users further argued that it's someone's personal choice whether they want to stand or not during the national anthem, and it doesn't give anyone the right to come forward and raise their hands on him.

One user commented, "He shouldn’t have slapped the kid. Unless the kid was his grandson, nephew, or such, and Pops was administering a respect lesson, keep your hands to yourself. Acceptance of such small acts leads up the ladder to bigger ones." Another user wrote, "It looks like no one standing around had a problem with this love tap reminding the dude, in case he forgot to show respect for our country."
It cannot be confirmed whether the elderly person and the young man were related to each other or not. Nothing about their identity is known as of now, nor have any statements or reactions from them come forward. If the young man takes charge, the case further has legal ramifications, as experts argued that such an action can constitute battery under certain circumstances.
