As news of the duo's marriage surfaced, Karan reacted to the rumours, dismissing the narrative with a cryptic post. It led many to think that he had broken up with Jennifer. Recently, he opened up about his dating life and made some shocking comments.

Hate Story 4 star, Karan Wahi recently appeared on Chhavi Mittal's podcast and made candid comments about his dating life. A particular clip from the chat went viral online, which sparked intense scrutiny against him and his conception about women. Karan recalled an incident in which he went on a date with a woman. At that time, he also could've gone out with another woman, but he didn't do so as he wanted to focus on one romantic interest at a time.

However, Karan was later shocked to learn that the unnamed woman he had gone out with was already seeing seven other men. It made him realise that his loyalty was wasted on someone who wouldn't return it. Referring to his experience, Karan made a controversial comment. He compared the women of his mom's era to the "modern women" of the 21st century, saying that many misinterpreted the "concept of independence" as unfaithfulness. His exact words were:

"I think some women have taken the concept of independence in a very different way...I went out on a date with a girl, and at that time I had an opportunity to go out on a date with another girl. I made sure that I don't do that because I was like if I get confused, I'll not end up anywhere. But I realised that the woman whom I went out a date with was already going out on a date with 7 people."

As the clip surfaced online, the public slammed Karan Wahi, alleging that he had a regressive and misogynistic attitude. According to them, since they were not an official couple and had just started seeing each other, it was okay to go on dates with other people. Karan tried to clarify his comment, saying that he didn't judge his date for seeing multiple men at once, but was concerned that she wouldn't know where or how to stop and become a one-man woman. The actor stated:

"In today's time, a woman says, 'f**k you' and just moves on...I was like, theek hai, matlab I'm not judging you [for seeing seven men simultaneously], but phir kaise– where will– how will you stop?"

Karan Wahi received severe backlash for his comments on modern women and their dating preferences. One Redditor commented, "So according to him, women should always continue with the role of being the "patient", calm, caretaker role? This is so problematic to hear first of all. You are okay with going on a date with 2 women in a row but as soon as you hear she might do the same, you take it on your ego and start slut shaming?"

Another stated, "So he expects women to be patient and quiet because men can't? Dude can't take what for generations women have been getting from men and now they aren't putting up with it. Why would a woman make space for your incompetency and inadequacy (sic)?" A third commented, "How independent is TOO independent for him ?? and what is wrong are men not TOO independent??" Hence, even if Karan Wahi's intent was not to demean women, it came across that way to the public.
