An insider at that time revealed that the duo had been dating sine the COVID-19 pandemic and were quarantined together at the singer's Los Angeles home. On her 27th birthday in June 2020, the singer made her relationship with Dalton official.

Despite being engaged, the couple were rarely spotted in public as Dalton liked keeping his relationship private. In May 2021, Dalton and Ariana got married in an intimate ceremony. Post their wedding, the couple spent as much time as possible with each other. The stunning singer also posted glimpses of her home life with Dalton.

When everyone thought that all is well in Dalton and Ariana’s marital life, reports of their split surfaced in July 2023. A source revealed at that time that Ariana and Dalton had called it quits a few months back and were working towards maintaining their friendship.

In March 2024, Ariana and Dalton got legally divorced and cited, “irreconcilable differences” as the main reason behind the same. In their legal filing, it was stated that both Ariana and Dalton struggled with their busy schedules and were hardly there for each other. As per a source close to the couple, Ariana and Dalton’s relationship began to deteriorate after the pop star moved to England to film the screen adaptation of Wicked. Elaborating on the same, the source added:

“Dalton is super focused on his career and needs to live in Los Angeles. It's definitely been an issue for them. His career is demanding and he can't leave Los Angeles often. So, when Grande started filming Wicked in England, they were in for a long-distance marriage."

After their divorce was finalised, the pair agreed for a divorce settlement with Ariana agreeing to pay Dalton USD 1,250,000. Court documents revealed that the former couple had a prenuptial agreement but had no legal disputes during their separation Terms of their agreement was signed by a judge which included Ariana’s one-time USD 1.25 million payment with half of the net proceeds from the sale of their home. Not just this, Ariana also paid USD 25,000 of Dalton’s legal fees. Apart from this, Dalton was not liable to receive any spousal support.
