Twinkle Khanna, also popularly known as Mrs Funnybone, is a celebrity who never shies away from voicing her opinions. Being quite vocal about everything trivial, the actress-turned-author never minces her words. After quitting acting, Twinkle carved her own way to stardom as an author. Twinkle has proved her mettle in writing with some of the bestselling books, including Mrs Funnybones, Pyjamas Are Forgiving and The Legend of Lakshmi Prasad.
Twinkle Khanna tied the knot with actor, Akshay Kumar on January 17, 2001, in a grand ceremony. The much-in-love couple is blessed with two kids, Aarav Bhatia and Nitara Bhatia. Married for almost 21 years, Akshay and Twinkle are setting major goals with each passing day. Meanwhile, Twinkle is currently pursuing a Master's in Fiction Writing at the University of London, fulfilling her wish to ace the art of creative writing.
In a video shared on the Tweak India YouTube channel, Twinkle Khanna sat in a heart-to-heart conversation with legendary actress, Waheeda Rehman, in which she recalled being mistreated as an actress. Talking about the same, Twinkle recalled an incident when a director wanted her to wear transparent clothes and pull off a rain song sequence like Mandakini. Revealing that the director never spoke to her after the ‘Mandakini’ incident, Twinkle said:
“I also had something similar, but a little more graphic. I was wearing a white kurta, and ready for the quintessential rain song, and the director comes with a shawl wrapped around, imitating Guru Dutt. And he says, ‘If I tell you to do a Mandakini, what will you say?’ I said I will say two things. First, I will say ‘no’, and secondly, ‘You’re not Raj Kapoor’. He never spoke to me, he never repeated me, and it was horrible’. But one has to stand one’s ground.”
For the unversed, the song in question was from the film, Mela, starring Twinkle Khanna, Sunny Deol and Aamir Khan in the lead roles. In the movie directed by Dharmesh Darshan, Twinkle did a rain song, sporting a white kurta in the pouring rain. Mandakini also did a similar rain sequence in a transparent white saree for the song, Tujhe Bulayein Yeh Meri Bahein, from the movie, Ram Teri Ganga Maili.
Twinkle Khanna acted in a few movies before donning the hat of a writer. Once at a book launch event in 2018, Twinkle talked about her acting career and revealed that she didn't give any hit films. Taking a dig at her films' failure at the box office, she said that her films should be banned and added:
“I have not given any hit film. Whatever films I have done should be banned and no one should watch it. Most of the time, I pretend I have Alzheimer’s and I don’t remember my film career and it makes me happy that ways.”
Twinkle Khanna is a strong-headed and fierce personality, who is often revered by many for being a self-reliant woman.
