Aishwarya Rai and Salman Khan’s relationship was one of the most talked about romantic affairs of the time. The duo fell in love while working on the sets of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and then continued to be passionately involved with one another for a few years. But, their relationship was short-lived as Aishwarya broke up with Salman due to the latter’s extremely alcoholic and abusive nature.
In an old interview of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as one of the guests at Simi Garewal’s iconic chat show, Rendezvous With Simi Garewal, the former shared some lovely praises on her then beau, Salman Khan. Well, as it happened that Simi had asked Aishwarya to name one person whom she considered to be the sexiest man in the industry. To this, the diva contemplated the question a bit, and even asked if she could replace the word sexy with charming. But when the host refused to do it, she went on to take Salman’s name as the sexiest man ever in the industry. In her words:
“Then one should take the name of the one who has been internationally selected among Indian men – Salman Khan…if we are talking about looks.”

Well, many would agree that Salman and Aishwarya’s break up was painful and bitter for both the couple as well their fans. While the latter moved on in her life and later got married to Abhishek Bachchan, Salman on the other hand, remained single to date. Post their breakup, Salman refused to speak about Aishwarya, however, there was one time when he actually did so. In an interview with India TV, the actor finally broke silence on the same and mentioned that he was happy for her. In his words:
“I am very happy she is married to Abhishek. He is a great guy from a good family. The best thing I can want for her is that she leads a happy life."
During his dating period with Aishwarya Rai, Salman was both a loving as well as a possessive boyfriend for her, who would get jealous at the slightest hint of any other male attempting to pursue her romantically. Proof of the same was found in an incident when Salman had got pretty annoyed at his colleague, Shah Rukh Khan getting too much friendly with his then-GF, Aishwarya.

Much like their relationship, Aishwarya and Salman’s breakup was equally discussed and highly scandalous. It turned even more complicated when Aishwarya after quite a few years of their breakup opened up about the reason behind the same. Revealing how she stood beside him despite his frequent physical misbehaviour with her, she had said:
“Salman and I broke up last March, but he isn't able to come to terms with it. After we broke up, he would call me and talk rubbish. He also suspected me of having affairs with my co-stars. I was linked up with everyone, from Abhishek Bachchan to Shah Rukh Khan. There were times when Salman got physical with me, luckily without leaving any marks. And I would go to work as if nothing had happened.”
