Amrita Rao is one of the most-loved actresses of B-Town, who is known for her splendid acting chops and bubbly nature. A true-blue diva, Amrita became a known face with many popular films like, Main Hoon Na, Vivaah, Ab Ke Baras, Ishq Vishk and many more. However, completely opposite to her film career lies her personal life, which she managed to keep under wraps for the longest time, before she announced her marriage with popular radio jockey, Anmol Sood, better known as RJ Anmol.

Anmol has been a prominent radio jockey on the channel, Radio Nasha for quite a long time, and had gained a massive fan base in a less period of time. One of his much-loved shows was the various interviews he conducted with Bollywood celebs, and destiny once made Amrita Rao one of them. The duo came together for an interview in 2008. However, while both Amrita and Anmol were equally impressed with one another, it was the latter who devised a way after the interview to get her phone number. Thereafter, they stayed in touch for some time post which their professional commitments made them distant.
Well, as destiny had prophesied them to be tied in a bond together, the duo met again after a few years at a public event and surely they rekindled their friendship, but this time, there was an added attachment of feelings for one another. Thereafter, through frequent scopes of contact, the duo started dating one another. For Amrita, she was totally impressed with Anmol for his genuineness and the fact that he lacked any hint of pretence. In an interview a few years later, after their marriage, Amrita recalled the first thing she liked about Anmol and mentioned:
“I think his genuineness. The fact that there was no pretence. He was who he is, and there was really no pretence of trying to be somebody. Generally, guys put on a lot to impress girls. But, there was nothing like that, he was very genuine and is. And that was enough to impress me.”
Amrita and Anmol dated each other for seven years before they got married. Interestingly, the duo surprisingly managed to keep their relationship under wraps and not even a single media or news headline could grab any report of their relationship. In an interview, Amrita spoke about the same and revealed that being a private person, she did not want her personal life to spread like wild fire. In her words:
“This was my choice because I am a very private person and I know being a film actress if anybody would ever know about us so the news would have spread like a wildfire. So for me, it was something that came along with the territory but Anmol had instantly agreed to it."
After dating each other for seven long years, it was Anmol who decided to take the final step and propose to his ladylove. And what better than to choose an absolutely filmy way to do so, since Amrita was an actor herself. Well, it was during his live, on-air show that Anmol played Amrita’s favourite song and made his proposal to Amrita, who too was an ardent listener of his show. In their popular IG page titled, Couple Of Things, the duo had recreated their moment of proposal and penned how Anmol literally professed his love for her on the live telecast, when the whole world was listening. Anmol during his proposal to Amrita on the live radio show had said:
“Aaj ki raat apni dil ki baat usse kehne wala hu jo sun rahi hai iss waqt. Tum bhi agar aise hi kuch sochti ho mere baare mei, toh call kardena. Mai haa samaj lunga.”

Right after their unexpected proposal, Amrita quickly realised that Anmol was the man in her life, and as their relationship was now kind of official, they should be more serious about it. In an interview, Amrita had revealed the moments of their dating period after being proposed, and how she made Anmol understand that their relationship gets serious from there on. In her words:
“When Anmol proposed to me, I told him, for me, it is going to get serious from here on. That was the note, to begin with. I had that stance, Anmol also had that stance. It was not like we’re going to get married, but we wanted to give each other commitment. Now, we are committed to each other. And for me, it was like my first relationship. I was not the girl who dated in college and stuff like that.”
Amrita and Anmol finally said yes to taking their nuptial plunge and got married on May 15, 2016, in a traditional Marathi wedding. But, much like their relationship itself, the couple preferred to keep their marriage under wraps for the longest time. In one of their YouTube Vlogs, Anmol and Amrita opened up on opting for a secret wedding, and shared some never-before-seen pictures from their adorable ceremony. Moreover, Amrita also mentioned the reason for opting for a secret wedding so that her career would not get jeopardised post-wedding. In her words:
“I was on a high again and Anmol said let's get married. I said things are getting back on track, these films will release, I am now looking for even bigger films. If I got married, this news might just affect my career severely. However, Anmol came up with the idea of a secret wedding. I thought that if we can keep our affair a secret for 4-5 years, can we not hide our marriage too.”
Well, a marital life has its fair share of ups and downs and every couple fights through it all so as to enjoy a lifetime of togetherness. However, for Amrita and Anmol, things were a little different as their relationship was formed on the basis of deep friendship which would never go wrong. In an interview post-marriage, Amrita had opened up on how after her hubby, Anmol proposed to her, she was still stuck in a zone of friendship post which, Anmol did something so that she could realise their love and be a better version of herself. In her words:
“Anmol and I became very good friends but when he confessed his love for me, I was still mentally in a friendship zone and so he decided to part ways until he could come back to just being a pure friend. During that period I started missing him and started writing about him in a diary which I still have to date. I wrote how I felt calm in his company and how I become the better Amrita through his uniquely positive nature and attitude.”
Amrita and Anmol’s pairing is one of a kind, and their fans simply cannot get over this exceedingly lovely couple. While their love for one another knows no leaps or bounds, it was in an interview when Amrita had heaped praises on her hubby, Anmol calling him to be very different, honest and genuine among all other men she had seen in her life. Recalling how he never pressurised her into accepting his proposal, Amrita mentioned:
“People who know Anmol know he is a real-life hero in so many ways. I started working from the age of 15 and I have met thousands of people in my life and Anmol was certainly ‘different’. At the end of my notes, I knew I couldn't let this guy go away from my life. They don't make guys like him anymore, so positive, genuine and committed with all great values intact.”
After four years of marital bliss, the madly-in-love couple, Amrita and Anmol surprised their fans by sharing the biggest news of their lives. The couple had taken to their respective social media handles and shared a picture of the duo, where Amrita was seen flaunting her nine-month-old baby bump. Their post came as a happy surprise after months of speculation by the world.
It was finally on November 2, 2020, that the couple was blessed with their bundle of joy, Veer. The little munchkin soon became the apple of the eyes of his parents, who just dote on him.
