"Vijay is a fantastic actor, and what I truly admire about him is how deeply he thinks about his character. He constantly asks questions, wanting to understand why his character behaves a certain way in each scene. We would often sit together to discuss scenes before shooting. Since I like to leave some room for spontaneity and last-minute changes, Vijay’s questions pushed us beyond our limits and helped us bring out the best in every scene, because Matka King is a game of details."
Later, Vijay Varma spoke about his role in the much-awaited series, Matka King and stated that 'Brij Bhatti' came to Mumbai during the partition, when he was only seven or eight years old. He was with his brother and they initially lived on the streets. However, the series begins with showing him as a married man, who is expecting a child. During the trailer launch of Matka King, Vijay Varma shared:
"When we meet Brij in the show, he is already married. His wife is expecting a child. He has a home. Things are reasonably stable; he holds a job as a manager. However, he is not allowed to dream. The morality of a middle-class man differs from that of a wealthy man, just as it differs from that of a poor man. Brij wants to challenge this notion. He wants to ask: if a man of means is permitted to dream, why shouldn't a man like him be allowed to do the same? If a wealthy man can gamble with his destiny, why can't he?"
