Now, the recent update is that Argentine footballer, Lucas Trejo, has lost his wife, Yani Maranella, and his two children, Aaron and Ainoha, who were confirmed dead. Lucas was hanging on to hope that there would be some good news about his family members surviving the disaster. Reportedly, for 74 painful hours, Lucas Trejo kept searching for his wife and kids. He was hoping against hope. Rescuers had finally pulled their bodies from the rubble yesterday. A whole family, gone in seconds. When Lucas had come to know that his wife and kids had been missing for 74 hours, he had immediately left the team's camp. He had returned to his hometown to find his beloved family and had written:

"Our building in Playa Grande collapsed. I don’t know anything about my family. Please pray for them and share this message in case someone saw them. I want to believe they weren’t there.”

According to social media reports, Lucas Trejo's wife, Yani Maranella and his two children, Aaron and Ainoha, had a shocking death. Reportedly, Yanina was at home in La Guaira with her little ones, Aaron and Ainhoa, when two massive earthquakes slammed Venezuela on June 24, 2026. Their building collapsed on top of them. The helpless footballer had reportedly taken to social media to appeal to netizens for help in finding his beloved family.

Argentine footballer Lucas Trejo was nowhere near his family members when the earthquake hit Venezuela. He had clung to the hope that his missing family members might have survived the disaster. However, when he heard that their building had collapsed during the tremors, all his hopes for his family came crashing down. Lucas was on club duties when the earthquake happened.

Lucas, a 38-year-old defender, was with Club Sport Marítimo de La Guaira when he learned that he had lost his family and his building had turned into rubble. Earlier, the International Organisation for Migration stated that more than 6 million people were affected by the earthquake in Venezuela. 2 million people were reportedly affected in Caracas, and the scale of destruction was reportedly the worst seen in recent centuries. Small aftershocks continued for days, shaking Caracas and the affected areas.

A post by Goals Side had read that, "Following a 74-hour search operation, the wife and children of Argentine footballer Lucas Trejo have been found dead in La Guaira. Our deepest condolences go out to the family." A user reading the heartbreaking tweet wrote, "Devastating loss, Lucas. The football world stands with you. Yanina, Aarón & Ainhoa, may you rest in eternal peace, strength, brother. We're all one family. Beyond devastating. Rest in peace, to his family, and deepest condolences to Lucas Trejo."

Another user offering condolences penned, "This is so heartbreaking. I feel so sad for them. My prayers are with the family, holding onto hope for 74 agonising hours just for it to end in the absolute worst possible way is beyond heartbreaking. Can’t even begin to comprehend the unimaginable pain Lucas Trejo is going through right now. Losing your entire family at once is a living nightmare."
