According to reports, Lucas was not present at the scene when the earthquake happened as he was in Caracas with his club, Maritimo, to prepare for one of his upcoming matches. Now, amid the tragic news, Lucas Trejo's last post with his wife and kids has surfaced.
The Venezuela earthquakes have claimed the lives of many. Among them was the wife of Lucas Trejo and their two children. As the news of their death dominated headlines, the footballer's last post with his family has also come to the forefront. Adding another layer of sadness to the already tragic news, in the post, Lucas was seen celebrating his wife, Yani Maranella, just days before her death. The post featured a series of photos seemingly taken at a fancy cafe or restaurant in Venezuela.
In the first snap, the couple could be seen sitting together on a sofa with Lucas' arm around Yani's shoulder. In the second photo in the carousel, their kids joined the frame, making for the perfect family picture. The carousel also had a few videos, one of which showed Lucas' wife clapping and pulling her kids towards her before blowing out the candles on top of her birthday cake.
Other photos on the post included some selfies of Lucas and Yani, while others featured their children. In the caption, Lucas had penned a heartfelt tribute for his wife. He called her a “blessing” for their family and wished her “the best year” of her life. The note, translated into English, can be read as:
“Happy birthday my love!!! May God richly bless your life and continue to fulfill the desires of your heart. It is a blessing for us as a family to have you and to move forward in the purpose we have together! With you everything is easier and more beautiful always. Have the best year of your life (so far) and let's keep our eyes and hearts on Jesus that big surprises are coming your way. I love you yesterday, today and always!”
Within just a few minutes of the news becoming public that Argentine defender, Lucas Trejo, had lost his wife and kids in the recent Venezuela earthquakes, his fans are rallying behind him during this difficult time. Many have shared their prayers for the family. For instance, one social media user wrote, “How do you keep living after this? It's so tough, brother, I hope you can pull through.” Another wrote, “May they find comfort and strength amid this immense pain.” A third user penned:
“May God hold them in his holy glory and let perpetual light shine upon them, may they rest in peace, and may be fill with strength and fortitude this player who is going through such a tough moment and all the Venezuelan families who are living through this misfortune.”
According to reports, it was after 74 hours of intense search efforts that Lucas Trejo's wife and children were found. Rescuers and volunteers located them at La Guaira after the earthquake in Venezuela, which had a magnitude of 7.5. Sadly, by the time help arrived, it was already too late.
