Uorfi Javed has been grabbing all the headlines for her quirky sense of fashion and bold personality. She is unapologetic about her frank opinions and is always fearless about making public appearances in her out-of-the-box fashion choices. For the unversed, Uorfi had kickstarted her career through the television world and rose to fame with her stint in the reality show, Bigg Boss. However, she is often at the helm of severe criticism and backlash, majorly for her bold fashion choices, that does not seem to please many.
This has not been the first time that Uorfi has been a target of severe criticism over her bold personality and fashion picks. But things turned ugly recently, when Uorfi became a target of harassment and bullying by a gang of drunk boys on a flight, as she travelled to Goa. They repeatedly shouted her name loudly, made fun of her and misbehaved utterly with her. Revealing more about the incident, Uorfi took to her IG stories and dropped a video from that exact moment. Atop it, she penned a caption and expressed her scary experience. She mentioned:
“While travelling from Mumbai to Goa in one of the flights yesterday I had to go through harassment. The men in this video were saying nasty things. Eve teasing and calling names. When I confronted them, one of them said that their friends were drunk. Being drunk is no excuse to misbehave with women. Public figure YES, Public property NO.”

Despite being hailed as a public figure now, Uorfi’s initial journey was never a bed of roses. Even today, she continues to stay in a cramped 1BHK flat in Mumbai, due to the difficulty of finding a decent house on rent in Mumbai. Speaking more about the same, Uorfi, in one of her earlier interviews with the Humans Of Bombay, revealed how owners are disinterested and doubtful to rent a house to her, and often demand a lot of restrictions on her dressing sense and way of being.
In the same interview, Uorfi spoke about a time in her life when she was merely 15 years old, and a picture of hers was accidentally uploaded a porn site. She mentioned that someone took a normal picture of her wearing a tube top from her Facebook account and directly uploaded it on a porn site, without even morphing her face. Thereafter, she revealed that when she got to know about it, she had to face a lot of criticism as people thought her to be a porn star.

In another of her previous interviews, Uorfi Javed spoke about her traumatic childhood and past, and recalled living her life with an abusive father. She recalled that her father was totally abusive and often used to hit her brutally, which led to her feeling suicidal frequently. Moreover, she emphasised how her father abandoned her and her mother.
