Suniel Shetty Breaks Silence On KL Rahul's Heated Argument With Sanjiv Goenka, 'It Hurt Him..'

KL Rahul is one of the most calm and composed Indian cricketers. He is well known for his strong fielding and strategic batting. Despite such a strong game, he has often faced the fire of the authorities. The 2024 clip of him having a heated argument with Lucknow Super Giants owner, Sanjiv Goenka is still one of the most talked about moments. Recently, KL Rahul's father-in-law, Suniel Shetty opened up about the same.

Suniel Shetty reveals KL Rahul was deeply affected by the incident

Recently, Suniel Shetty had a candid conversation on an episode of Lehren Retro. During the same, the Border actor opened up about his son-in-law, KL Rahul and also spoke about the 2024 video clip featuring the cricketer and Sanjiv Goenka that went viral. Talking about the same, Suniel Shetty revealed that neither KL Rahul discussed that at home nor did anyone from the family tried to talk about it. He was quoted as saying:

"People feel that way about him and he is aware of that, he has got all the love and sympathy. He never said a word till date. He has never talked about it, we never discussed that at home. Maybe, Sanjeev ji was going through something in his life at that period, and that's how we saw it."

Suniel Shetty further revealed that KL Rahul was deeply affected by the whole incident that happened with Sanjiv Goenka. For the unversed, the argument happened after LSG suffered a major defeat from SRH in IPL 2024, and KL Rahul was the captain of LSG, at that time. Suneil Shetty shared:

"Of course, it hurt him, because the world is seeing. The world wanted to take decisions, and the world was passing statements. But, those are not our statements. That shows the love for Rahul, for the family, but I don't think we went into that also."

Suniel Shetty never watches KL Rahul’s cricket matches live

During the same conversation with Lehren Retro, Suniel Shetty also revealed that he is very proud of KL Rahul and his achievements; however, he never watches any of his matches live. The actor mentioned that he prefers watching the highlights of it. Sharing the reason behind it, Suniel Shetty said:

"The biggest high for me is Rahul representing the country itself. If he is captain, vice captain, or leading from the front, responsible for India's victory, that's a big high for us automatically. But, for all of us, it's about him representing the country and his personality. I watch all the matches but I never watch when Rahul is playing. I only watch the highlights then. Yesterday also, Ahan was watching, I didn't go inside. I don't know if it's superstition or I get anxious, it's maybe because of that. I don't see Rahul playing on the field, absolutely don't. I watch him later in highlights, for sure."
