The most astonishing high-profile bond of marriages for the past few years is nothing but cricket and Bollywood. One of the most recent examples of such a marriage is of cricketer, KL Rahul and actress, Athiya Shetty. After dating for a few years, Suniel Shetty's daughter got married to the Indian cricketer in 2023. This adorable duo opted for Suniel Shetty's, Khandala farmhouse as their intimate wedding destination. Rahul and Athiya tied the knot and won millions of hearts in the presence of family and friends. For those who don't know, it was Suniel Shetty, who first confirmed that KL Rahul and Athiya would get married.
Suniel Shetty recently revealed how fortunate he feels to have cricketer, KL Rahul as his son-in-law in a recent interview with ETimes. He declared that KL Rahul is a son rather than a son-in-law. Suniel also shared that he can now understand the cricketer's life more as he witnesses it through the hard work of his son-in-law. In his words:
"I am anxious because that’s my child playing. I would wish well for him but through his eyes and seeing him, I have started empathising and sympathising, appreciating every cricketer there is here. When your child goes through a low, it shakes you more probably than it shakes the child because he is the master of that form but you don’t know. You are seeing him as a father."

In the same interview, Sunil Shetty also said that his daughter Athiya is blessed to have a husband like KL Rahul, as she will learn a lot from him. Comparing KL Rahul's calm, respectful, and composed behaviour, the veteran actor stated:
"But then when he rises like a phoenix you feel this is something to be inspired from and this is what the team’s tough boys are. I am a proud father. Blessed is Athiya and blessed is Ahaan because he gets to learn about from him. He is calm, composed, very respectful. I don’t think I could have asked for a better son."
When Suniel Shetty appeared in The Kapil Sharma Show to promote his reality show, Kumite 1 Warrior Hunt, the actor shared how he first met cricketer, KL Rahul. According to the Bollywood actor, his first meeting with KL Rahul was in 2019 at an airport, and during that time, Suniel didn't know that Athiya and KL Rahul already knew each other. However, he said after returning home, he learned that the cricketer and his daughter Athiya were already in talks with each other. In his words:
"I had the privilege of meeting Rahul for the first time at an airport. I was thrilled to know that he was from my hometown Mangalore. I was a big fan of his and was happy to see that he was doing well. When I came home and shared the news with Athiya and my wife Mana, they didn't say much, they just looked at each other Later Mana came to me and told that Athiya and KL are in talks with each other."

In his 30 years of career, Suniel Shetty has acted in more than 100 movies. Recently he acted in a Tamil movie, Ghani. And his upcoming project is Hera Pheri 3. In this Hera Pheri sequel, he will be seen alongside, Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal. Paresh revealed that the trio of 'Raju', 'Shyam', and 'Babu Bhaiya' would travel worldwide for the third film. He also revealed that Hera Pheri 3's shooting would start soon.
