After parting ways with actress Shivani Tanksale in 2017, Veere Di Wedding actor, Sumeet Vyas has found love again. Sumeet, who rose to fame with the web series Permanent Roommates is in love with the Mere Angne Mein fame actress, Ekta Kaul. On April 28, 2018, Ekta confirmed her relationship with Sumeet by sharing two couple pictures on her Instagram. Ekta Kaul captioned the pictures, “And into his arms, I go to lose my mind and find my soul. @sumeetvyas sometimes there’s only one thing to say. P.S I love you.” And now finally, Sumeet has also decided to speak at length about how he met Ekta, his relationship with her and the rumours of his alleged marriage with Ekta.
Sumeet, who will be seen as Kareena Kapoor’s fiancé in Veere Di Wedding, shared to Mumbai Mirror how he found love again in Ekta, and stated, “We first met years ago while shooting for a promo of a show which never took off. Then, both of us got busy with our respective lives. This was the time when he was already married to Shivani, but after his divorce with her, Sumeet and Ekta met again at a friend’s place. Speaking about the same, Sumeet informed, “She wanted to be sure about it too, but we have realised now that we have a certain amount of understanding and really like each other. However, the 34-year-old actor revealed that he hasn’t proposed to Ekta yet, and was quoted as saying, “I had come out of a marriage, which was a sensitive issue, and I wasn’t sure if I wanted to get into another relationship. When asked if marriage is on cards, Sumeet retorted, “It is too soon to talk about marriage. It’s not a conversation that we are having right now as we are both busy with work. We are in a good place where two people realise how compatible they are.” Putting end to all the speculations, Sumeet requested the media, "I would like to put an end to all the rumours and speculation around my engagement to the actress, Ekta Kaul. The rumours are false. We are currently dating and are enjoying this phase of our relationship. As both of us are busy with our careers, we would like to spend more time together before taking the next step. I would request the media to not speculate and spread false news regarding the same."
Sumeet Vyas also opened up about his divorce with actress Shivani Tanksale, and remarked, "There have been other rumours about my divorce that have come up post the launch of the Veere di Wedding trailer. I would also like to confirm my divorce to actress Shivani Tanksale took place in 2017, it happened amicably and we both continue to remain friends. There is a friendship that has been there for many years and we split ways with a lot of respect." Shivani and Sumeet got married in 2010 and after six years of togetherness, they decided to part their ways in 2016 and got divorced in 2017. Sumeet shared, “It was an amicable split with Shivani as we are mature individuals. Both of us realised that we weren’t making each other happy so we separated gracefully. We have known each other for many years and didn’t want to sacrifice our friendship to sustain a marriage. We respect each other’s privacy.” When probed if he is moving in with Ekta or collaborating on a project together, Sumeet quipped, “We are both doing our own thing. It’s going great so far.”
