Sonam Kapoor is the most popular divas amongst her generation in Bollywood. She made her debut opposite Ranbir Kapoor in the film, Saawariya in 2007, and has delivered some major hits at the box office. Films like Khoobsurat, Neerja, Veere Di Wedding, Raanjhanaa among so many others, stand a testimony to her flourishing career. In her personal life, she is married to Anand Ahuja, and the duo is blessed with their son, Vayu Kapoor Ahuja. And now, Sonam Kapoor spilled beans on her decision to take a hiatus from films, after the birth of her son, and revealed whether she felt forgotten all this while.
In a recent interaction with India Today, Sonam Kapoor spoke about her hiatus from films, which she took right after the birth of her son, Vayu. The diva emphasised that she started working at the age of 17, and continued till 36, so her break was justified by all means. Moreover, the diva mentioned that as a new mom, this crucial period of time was essential for her to bond with her son. Adding how she is all geared up to return to the cinema again, Sonam mentioned:
“I miss cinema and the industry but at the same time, this time was very important for me to bond with my baby, and have time with my family. I started working when I was 17 and took a break when I was 36, so I think I gave enough time. I am ready to come back to work now.”

Sonam recently made her comeback with the crime thriller, Blind which was released on OTT. Moving further in the interview, the actress revealed whether at any point during her hiatus, she felt left out from the buzz of the film world, or even felt forgotten. In her response, Sonam mentioned that in fact it was the industry, as well as her friends and colleagues, who missed her presence. In her words:
“I feel I was really missed, it made me feel very good. Whenever there was an event, or red carpet, I used to get messages from my colleagues and media. Rajkummar Rao and Patralekha had come home to see Vayu and they were asking when I am returning to work. My cousins, who are now in showbiz, also kept calling me and say that they missed me on red carpets. It’s nice to feel missed. I didn’t feel out-of-sight-out-of-mind, I feel missed. I didn’t feel forgotten, let’s say that.”
Concluding the interview, Sonam was asked if she felt guilty about sacrificing out time from her first love of films, and giving it to her family, and especially to her child. Reacting to it, Sonam mentioned that she needed the break, so that she didn’t feel stuck in one place. Moreover, rubbishing any feelings of guilt, Sonam expressed:
“But, that break was important for me to avoid feeling stuck in a rut. I don’t want to regret not spending time with my baby, my family. No woman should feel guilty about giving time to their family.”

Currently, Sonam Kapoor is a busy diva, who is hustling between the dual jobs of an actress, as well as a hands-on mommy to her son, Vayu. A few days back, Sonam, spoke about her journey as a mother in an event, and recalled the first moment that she held her son. She called the moment the best thing she ever felt, and called it a feeling of euphoria.
