The investigation into the mysterious death of Pune-based realtor Ketan Agarwal has taken yet another chilling turn, which, contrary to the defence's argument, is raising more red flags about Ketan's fiancee, Siya Goyal, and her alleged lover, Chetan Chaudhary. After recreating the alleged murder scene at Lohagad Fort, the officials are now planning a gait analysis of the co-accused, Chetan, after discovering an elaborate effort to avoid leaving a digital trail on the day of the incident.

Authorities are supposedly becoming more and more sure about Siya and Chetan's involvement in this conspired murder plot, and the deceased's father has filed an FIR to bring his son to justice.

Investigators allege a carefully planned 'ghost strategy'

After finding little trace of Chetan's digital whereabouts on the day leading to Ketan Agarwal's death, further probe revealed that the 22-year-old co-accused allegedly tried to become digitally 'invisible' before the incident by switching off his mobile internet for nearly 11 hours.

Police claim that Chetan turned off his mobile data early in the morning, allegedly to avoid generating location records. On June 17, 2026, the day before Ketan's apparent murder, Chetan left his personal phone at his workplace, asking employees to answer incoming calls on his behalf and thus creating an alibi. For essential communication, he allegedly used another person's phone.

Even when he reached the location, Chetan kept changing his appearance to fit in with the visitors and avoid detection. While he was initially seen in black, he wore a hoodie despite the hot weather, allegedly to make identification from CCTV footage more difficult. He didn't reconnect the internet until he returned from the area.

Calling this one of the typical 'ghost strategies,' investigators believe these steps were intended to make it appear that Chaudhary had never left his business premises.

What is gait analysis, and why are investigators planning it?

The investigation team’s latest updates say they are looking to do gait analysis of Chetan Chaudhary's trail at Lohagad Fort. Gait analysis is a forensic technique that compares a person’s walking pattern to footage taken by security cameras. On the day that Agarwal died, CCTV cameras had captured a hooded person near Lohagad Fort. Now, investigators are planning to recreate the footage by asking Chaudhary to don similar clothes and walk the same route.

Experts will reportedly compare characteristics such as stride length, posture, and body movement with the person seen in the original CCTV recordings. Police have reportedly told the court they believe the comparison could help determine whether the person captured on camera was Chaudhary.

How an accidental death theory turned to a murder probe

When Ketan Agarwal was found dead in a 400-foot deep gorge at Lohagad Fort on June 18, 2026, it was initially ruled as an accidental death. The 26-year-old's fiancée, Siya Goyal, told the police that he fell from a cliff while trekking. The 20-year-old informed Agarwal's family that he had slipped while taking photographs.

However, members of Ketan's family, including his mother and sister, raised suspicion about the sequence of events when they visited the location. After finding inconsistencies in Siya's accounts, the Agarwals filed a complaint, and investigators reclassified the matter as a murder probe. In the FIR, Agarwal's father alleged that Siya and Chetan pushed his son from the cliff. Police subsequently arrested both suspects as part of the ongoing investigation.

On Sunday, June 28, 2026, Pune Rural Police reached the location under heavy security to recreate the crime scene. They allegedly verified the positions and recreated how things unfolded that day, all the way to how the 26-year-old realtor was pushed into the gorge.  Siya reportedly demonstrated the pre-arranged signal she and Chetan had planned.

She had planned to sit down once Ketan was standing at the designated spot near the cliff. This was Chetan's cue to emerge from hiding and allegedly push the unsuspecting Ketan off the edge. This was planned to make Siya an unsuspected subject in the apparent "accident".

Now, the planned gait analysis is expected to become one of the key investigative steps in Chetan Chaudhary's alleged involvement in the case.
