Fathers are the superheroes for their kids, and Bollywood legend, Amitabh Bachchan is beyond that for his kids, Abhishek Bachchan and Shweta Bachchan Nanda. We all know Abhishek is a proud mumma's boy, Shweta, on the other hand, is her dad's favourite. When the two had graced the koffee couch on Koffee with Karan season 6, they had shared this secret with the entire world. And we love the fact how legendary superstar, Amitabh ji melts when it comes to his daughter, Shweta.
On October 10, 2019, Shweta took to her Instagram and posted a throwback picture with her 'daddy dearest' Amitabh ji. In the monochrome picture, we can see Amitabh ji happily holding his little angel, Shweta in his arms. She captioned the picture as "Home is not a place, it is a person." Tomorrow, on October 11, 2019, Amitabh ji will turn 77. While we expect him to celebrate his birthday with pomp, he is in no mood to celebrate the day. In an interview with the Filmfare magazine, the actor had said, "What is there to celebrate? It's a day like any other. Recalling how his father and poet, Harivansh Rai Bachchan used to celebrate his birthday by composing a poem for him. Amitabh ji shared, "It was a family tradition. But this tradition took an entirely new definition when, after my near-fatal accident in 1984 (when he nearly lost his life after a shooting accident on the set of Coolie), my father recited my birthday poem. It was like a new life for me. While reading the poem my father broke down. It was the only time I've seen him like that." He further added, "My father's poetry is much-missed, as is my mother's excitement on that day. The annual ritual of cake-cutting no longer interests me. It has been replaced by a plate of dry fruits.”
Shweta has always been in awe of her father and his superstardom. In one of her writeups, she had written beautifully about the megastar which could be read as "After many hours of agonising over the correct answer to the question “What makes your father COOL?” it dawns on me that there is no secret formula. He is a prolific adaptor to changing circumstances. It is as simple and as difficult as that. He harbours none of the disdain age has for youth: he doesn’t screw up his nose to the music, art or sartorial sensibilities of the generations that have succeeded him. In fact, he’s adjusted himself to find harmony in all of it. He is never outdated, be it the newest technological fad—the Apple watch, for instance—or mastering social media.
