Vicky Kaushal’s father, Sham Kaushal is one of the most renowned action directors of Bollywood. The talented artist has been a part of a number of hit films, including Gunday, Lakshya, Gangs Of Wasseypur, Simmba, Padmaavat among others. While it was surely his hard-earned merit that made him popular in the film industry, nevertheless, it is through the talents of his sons, Vicky Kaushal and Sunny Kaushal that the proud dad is now recognised mostly as. And in a recent interview, Sham recalled an incident in his life when his work commitments made him miss one of the most important moments in his life.
In a recent interview on Bollywood Bubble’s show, XtraOrdinary You, Sham Kaushal recalled the tough challenges he faced in his career, wherein his professional work commitments often took a toll on his personal life. Recalling one such poignant incident, Sham revealed that he couldn't be present during the birth of his firstborn, Vicky Kaushal. Adding how both his sons, Vicky and Sunny were born in the same room where they lived in a 10x10 chawl, Sham mentioned:
“Aur Vicky, Sunny ussi room mein paida hue hai, chawl joh 10×10 hai. Dono ussi kamre mein paida hue hai. Jabhi Vicky 16 May ko paida hua, toh main 8 May ko 1988 ko mein stuntman tha toh mein shooting ke liye Ooty gaya tha. Phone hote nahi the toh meri sass yaha pe thi toh, woh gaon se aaye hue the kyuki Vicky was due. Vicky hua 16 ko paida.”

In the same interaction, Sham Kaushal then revealed that at the time of the birth of his son, Vicky Kaushal, he didn’t have any information about what actually happened with his wife and son, as he was away in Ooty. He recalled coming back to home all scared, and it wasn’t until his sister-in-law, who informed him about the birth of his son, that he could relax. Recalling the moment he saw his son for the first time, Sham revealed:
“Mujhe kuch information hi nahi mili waha pe. Jis din 16 ki raat ko Vicky paida hua toh, mujhe yaad hai meri night shooting thi. Mein aaya 19 ko wapas. Jab mein ghar pe pocha toh meri Sali thi, maine pucha unse kaha hai toh unhone bataya ki woh hospital mein hai. Mein darr gaya toh unhone bataya ki beta hogaya. It was a precious moment.”
For the unversed, Sham Kaushal is blessed with an adorable daughter-in-law, Katrina Kaif, who is married to his eldest son, Vicky Kaushal. The new addition of a bahu to their family has indeed brought some happy spirit and an abundance of love. In one of her previous stints in the comedy chat show, The Kapil Sharma Show, Katrina had once revealed the cute nickname she got from her parents-in-law, Sham Kaushal and Veena Kaushal. The diva mentioned that the duo fondly call her Kitto.

During an earlier interaction with Aaj Tak, Vicky Kaushal had spoken up about the changes in his life post marriage and spilt a few beans on the kind of equation his parents share with his wifey, Katrina Kaif. The actor mentioned that while nothing has changed much in his family, on the contrary, it is his parent’s wish of having a daughter that has got fulfilled in the process of his marriage. Elaborating more on it, he mentioned:
“There is a joy in life. And, like my parents always say, ‘Humein humesha se ek beti chahiye thi, humein vo beti mil gayi.’ So, yes, it is a very good feeling to be married.”
